Genuine Trade Dollars were only made from 1873 to 1885, and for circulation only until 1878. An 1866-dated Trade Dollar is fake, unfortunately.
It's good you found the forum. There are lots of helpful people here who can help you avoid getting scammed by sellers, which you apparently were with the coin that you have. As others have said, there's no such thing as an 1866 Trade Dollar.
Hang out here awhile and don't be afraid to ask questions! You'll save a lot of money in the long run.
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.
Mobutu, you kill my sister. She not like your regime, you cut off her head. You bad man. You not brave like tiger of jungle, you coward and stupid like chickens in henhouse. You're also a truly sucky alt. Bhartman, et al--why do you fall for this stuff?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

<< <i>Bhartman, et al--why do you fall for this stuff? >>
Frankly, it's because:
a) If someone asks for help or just introduces themselves, I don't care if it's an alt. When he/she/it starts causing trouble, then I care. b) If someone is so juvenile as to construct a racist personae, just to see who falls for it, who'm I to spoil the tiny niche they've carved themselves out in the universe?
I don't really have the time to conduct background checks, and wouldn't have the inclination to do so if I did have it.
