Just bought my first Indian Head $5 gold.

NGC AU-58. Wow. Common date, 1911. She's beautiful. I can see a 1911 $2.5 to match it in my future. It really is a very stunning design up close.

<< <i>One of my favorite designs. The first use of a Native American (1908) on a US coin. Unfortunately they frequently come with fine scratches in circ condition since they don't have a raised rim to protect the fields. >>
Must be one of the reasons the price spikes so heavily from AU to MS. They would scratch fairly quickly without the rim.

I just bought a 1914 AU-58 Indian $2.50 for my type set. It looked pretty scratch-free and the fields looked great from the image so I pulled the trigger:
I think you're smart on pulling the trigger. I think gold is going much higher and I wanted at least one Indian before it does.
I have a MS61 of this one NGC. Can I ask the cost???
I'm trying to value my 61 and can't find that level
Thx for reply. My coin is a 1914 like the one that this thread started about.
Is that the price for that year that you found????
Where did you look for MS61??????
Thx
