This year is the first.
FWIW, I bought five of the BU-W Gold Eagles from another dealer who just wanted the Reverse Proofs from the gold sets, and have had absolutely zero interest in them in my showcase. They are slabbed MS-69's, and I paid $700 each for them ($20 less than the Mint's raw price) and am beginning to wish that I hadn't.

I think they are talking about the "W" unc. Gold, Plat, and Silver.
Not the regular bullion.

It all comes from the mint originally, my philosophy is I have a better chance of a quality coin if passes through less owners.

My ship date now shows as 12/13.
They were stamped on specially burnished blanks and are supposed to have had special handling at the mint, as numismatic items, as opposed to the bullion items that come in rolls.
...ie...just another way to seperate the collector from a few more bucks!
