Who cares, I wouldn't buy anything directly from the mint with their latest problems of not even being able to ensure the coins will stay in the capsules during shipping.
<< <i>Have they always sold these towards the end of the year or will this be the first? Thanks in advance >>
This year is the first.
FWIW, I bought five of the BU-W Gold Eagles from another dealer who just wanted the Reverse Proofs from the gold sets, and have had absolutely zero interest in them in my showcase. They are slabbed MS-69's, and I paid $700 each for them ($20 less than the Mint's raw price) and am beginning to wish that I hadn't. TD

It all comes from the mint originally, my philosophy is I have a better chance of a quality coin if passes through less owners.
These are NOT the standard issue bullion BU coins.
They were stamped on specially burnished blanks and are supposed to have had special handling at the mint, as numismatic items, as opposed to the bullion items that come in rolls.
...ie...just another way to seperate the collector from a few more bucks!
