An original seated dime......not a blast white gem
Folks...at the Baltimore show and after checking the upcoming Heritage auction selections, it is clear that more and more blast white coins are appearing in TPG holders, especially NGC. I'm not a fan of blast white coins and believe that the original patina should be left on a coin. Here is an example of a gem original dime that I would never dip.

new collectors love blast white!! and then they all eventually turn one way or another
only makes the eye appealling thick skinned original coins even better
I do like that '39-O dime. Very much. It's a CircCam™.
The coin would likely never make it to MS65 grade. But the guy that bought it immediately dipped it hoping for an upgrade and ruined one of the few nicely toned specimens of the date in existence. I've seen a number of uncs of this date and none had the eye appeal or color of this one (not the 2 MS65's nor the MS66 that were finer).
I passed on an exceptionally clean MS67 NGC seated quarter today only because it was too blast white. I'm sure it will fit into someone's set down the road.

Not many like them around I'd wager.

I just wish folks would pass a coin on, as is. and find something that they like as it is.
I bought the 39-O above years ago, when I was building a set of Seated dimes.
It was a tough coin to find and I would guess it still is today.
I knew it had problems, but after years of looking I gave up and went with it.
It seemed that everything I found had been messed with. Someone just had to try to improve them.
Please leave those old original coins for the next collector that loves it as is.
