PCGS ezine

Just got the latest ezine in my email. Had a survey question:

"Should PCGS grade "problem" coins?"

Should anything be read into this?

Anyone else get the ezine?

    Yes
  • They should grade problem coins and designate the problem accordingly. That is one of the only nice things about ANACS. We should at least get some plastic noting the problem for the high grading fees we pay. The mylar body bag must cost them about 2 cents.

I got it and voted Yes. I see no reason that the coin cannot be slabbed identifying what the problem might be with a net grade.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I voted no. Generally speaking, I believe the better coins eventually get into PCGS holders.

Yes, problem coins with the correct notation is part of the hobby.

  • I too voted yes. Slab the coin with the problem noted. Whether it is net graded or no grade I have no preference.

If I pay for plastic---I want plastic. You feel violated when you get your coin back in a bag. By all means note the problem, but slab the coin. With ANACS on such bad footing these days, it would be a true market leading move.
They can put the coins in a different slab or like Fats says, even leave off the grade, but slab the coin as authentic.

The only returned coins in bags should be counterfeit coins.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
