<< <i>Interesting that an item of this caliber would be offered in this venue. Is the seller silly, or is eBay a legit venue for this? Maybe more eyes here, before it goes to a known coin house? >>
Steve Contursi is a big boy. This is the real deal. My guess is they use the venue simply for a bit of cheap added exposure.
It is not cheap if he started the auction at $850,000. I wonder if they take PayPal.

Well, I'm not sure why I feel this way, but I think it's neat to see eBay used as a venue for something of this value.

life's finer things. I accept your request as you well know verbal
contracts are binding here in NJ. I have the $850,000.00 for
you @ 28.9% APR which is also legal here in NJ. You may pick up
the check this afternoon.
KIDDING!!! I'm just kidding! Put away the torches and pitchforks...
Interesting coincidence this coin and others showing up today after the seller was mentioned in the cover article of the new greysheet and then featured prominetly in a thread earlier today.

As I've said before, Ebay isn't like Walmart or Nieman Marcus. Both of these stores are one seller and you can predict how you will be treated at each one. But it will be quite different. Ebay is a place were both sellers, and many more, can exist. Trying to lump all ebay sellers together is unfair and unrealistic. On ebay you'll find all kinds (just like in the brick and mortar world). Poorguy and Russ (and others) are selling some very nice coins, I'm selling some Modern Crap right now, and a few sleezy guys are giving it a bad name--but only to those unable to see the variety in sellers. So I'm not at all suprised to see Ebay used. If you get your price the selling fees are much less than the auction houses charge. --Jerry

Yep. Seller been a member for 3 years and only made 4 cheap deals less than $5, not made any deals in over 7 months, all of a sudden lists a million dollar coin with bad pictures, and First Class shipping with NO INSURANCE??? Must be a hijacked account. Probably a shill.
Dear Mr. rarecoinca, I got your package today but the corner was torn off the #10 envelope and the coin was missing. Please send me a refund or a replacement coin or I'll hold you feedback hostage and ruin your perfect feedback.
1) What's the Ebay + PayPal fee on a $850,000.00 sale? $42,500??
2) Can you say "chargeback"!?

Insertion fee is $4.80. It's very cheap exposure.
<< <i>1) What's the Ebay + PayPal fee on a $850,000.00 sale? $42,500?? >>
It won't sell through eBay and, even if it did, it couldn't be paid for with PayPal.

Yep. Ebay understands business. Keep the insertion fee down and charge fees to higher sellers. As for the final value fee, 3% is 25,500. Much cheaper than what an auction house would charge. --jerry

I don't understand. PayPal is one of the payment options. How could it not be payable through PayPal?

<< <i>I know that that is a great coin, but I could buy better with that kind of money. >>
I was wondering the same thing. I thought about posting to see if I could find interest in 100 shares at $8500 each but wasn't sure if this is such a good deal at that money. I may have to PM Laura.
