Impact of the sell out of the ASE 20th Ann sets
The next few weeks should give evidence of the impact of this announcement
on the secondary market for the AES Sets. While debate seems equally split,
I believe that prices for sets as well as single, 70 grades, will begin a strong escalation
running thru the end of the year. They will then stabilize at this higher level, untill
demand again exceeds supply. While some AGE sets are still dribbling out from the Mint,
Pretty much all that there are of these sets, are already out in the hands of collectors, dealers
and speculators. Even at their high price, prices will continue to grow stronger thru the
end of the year. As rediculous as FS designations may seem, they will be in high demand by the
public and with the limited supply , should continue to do very well.

Yowza!
I especially like the last one... 70/70/69 .... I may have 2 possible sets like that!!! Now, I feel like a kid waiting for Santa (in this case, for PCGS' package to arrive).
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I have three unopened sets dated before 11/11 sitting in a box. 2 are my brothers, 1 mine. Hes in it for the money, but would like 1 set, I just want one set to hold onto and enjoy.
How should I go about making a profit, yet still having 2 opened sets. Ideally, I could trade the box of three unopened for cash + two opened sets....

I sold 4 sets to DNC at a very cheap $175/set.
I wonder if they are fronting for one of the TV Coinshows?

this order was placed on 9/4 with a order number of 2319xxxx. I ordered 5 more sets on 10/1
and I'm pretty sure they will be delivered also.
I do believe these sets are keepers and I do expect some ups and downs in thier prices.
I, like many others missed the first strike deadlines and will just have to wait and see the future
for these.
I have been watching the prices on Ebay also see that they have been edging higher for ungraded sets.
I did want a couple "out of the box" so to say and picked 2 up for myself. Fortunatly I was able to save a few bucks
on a "bin"......

all boxes, paperwork and coin capsules to us. I then put the
origonal box and all materials in a plastic baggie and place them
in a cool place in the closet. That way, If the price of origonal sets
goes up, I can always return the coins to their origonal Mint packages.
When I buy a graded set, I always request the same packaging
be sent to me.

<< <i>So in hopes of getting a ASE for myself from the mint is just not going to happen
My thoughts are... I really have no idea. These things could just go wild; but for how long, and whether they keep the high prices, I just don't know.
If you ask me, I think the 'bargain' is to purchase the first strike ms68 or PF68. Those have, at least a couple of days ago, went really cheap. I would think any with the First Strike label will be a winner. So if you pick up the cheapies now, could pay off in the future. Same could apply to the reverse proof, although I suspect it is going for more than the ms or reg proof.

Honest Bears wouldn't do that......!!
Average AGE set ~$4500
Average ASE set ~$200
Botttom Line, most all U.S. coin buyers can now buy a "numismatic-clone" copy of the popular gold set.
These babies are going to fly off the shelf specifically because of the historical reverse proof included in the set.
Christmas season, mint sold out, reverse proof.....what's not to like???
Lots of upside from here IMHO.......eBay ASE hysteria on turbocharge!!

Hoard the keys.
I just moved to pr69 pcgs rev proofs on ebay tonight for $295 each. 1 coin.
I am liking it.
Bought 2 gold sets, sold 1 for enough to make the 70/70/69 set free to me.
Once again, I like speculation.
Now If I only had some real money and could have bought 10 age sets.
I intend to get everything graded
and put the sets away for a few years.
we shall then see what will happen. Patience,
is often the path to the big score.

I agree to a point. I bought 10 sets and had all 10 graded by PCGS.
I am selling all except 2 "69" sets and 1 PR70DCAM, and the 69's to go with it.
I now have those 3 sets for free and 3 more sets to sell.

Big score has to start off with a little extra funding. I am a new player in this game, and gotta get a bankroll somewhere. I figure starting with a free 70/70 69dcam gold set is good. I ordered 10 silver, got 5 graded fs 20th and I am parting out 4 sets individual pieces. Sold all 4 rev proof 69 for $295 each, will go and sell the other ms 69 and proof 69 for $xxx and keep a ms69, rev pr69, 70dcam set for free. I still have 5 sets unopened while they will not qualify for f/s they still get 20th anniversary if I ever submit them.
I may also take some of the $$$ and buy a real nice oregon comemm. or re-invest in unopened stes and grade them out.
Who knows, but I got to start somewhere. I just don't have the funds to pass up some of the quick money for now.
I wish I could have held them all, but gotta pay the bills.

What's dishonest about that?
<< <i> Opened sets, while still considered the 20th Annivesary sets, can be manipulated and the coins switched out and may not be the original coins released in the set from the mint. Will this play a factor in the value of these sets? Only time will tell. These 70 sets could drop in value but who knows. But the fact that the AGE gold sold out in 24 hours just shows the demand for them. Will this carry over to the ASE sets. I think it will now that they are sold out too. >>
Unopened boxes are always better, but and opened AGE is still good. The reason is, what would the point of switching coins be ???

Not as applied to 2006 silver eagles. If you take them out of context and broaden the statement, then yes. As they meant it, no.
