Perhaps this is a "going out of business sale" for this "Eastern culture" firm.

The dies are just as illegal to own as the counterfiet coins themselves and could get you in worse trouble. Stay away. Stay FAR away.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I'd like to have those but I'm not going to support the trade.

Those are a pair of dies that the counterfeiters no longer use. They have been able to produce more accurate dies after reading instructive comments on the CU Forums about how to distinguish the fakes.

At least the worksmanship on these wouldn't fool a knowledgeable collector. Neither would this bust of Carolus III (another die from this seller):

I am contemplating bidding on this dies set for two reasons: 1.better my counterfeit detection, 2.get these off the market.

Same descriptive text...dies have similar hub mounting design...it's a going out of business sale alright.

look at this item, It's very beautiful and vivid. You can know more details than I can describe if you take a look at the following pictures. I hope you do not miss this better chance to win it.Enjoying your bidding! It will bring you and your family happy and bless~!

Possesion of the dies carries a MUCH stronger penalty than mere possession of counterfeit coins. Under Title 18 Sec 489 mere possession of counterfeit coins can result in a fine of $100. Under Sec 487 mere possession or importation of the counterfeit dies can be punished by a fine of $5,000 and 15 years imprisonment.

image Bill. Your first line is the funniest I've read for a few days... IMO.
Your second point is so well put, I am only commenting so others realize the truth.

Interesting pairing, seated obverse with a tradedollar reverse.

Not to mention that the designs are off by about 30+ years.

I don't imagine that the secret service or the FBI would want those coming into the states, they probably don't want them
    floating around China either.

I shudder to think of the Chinese Coin business evolving just as the Japenese and Korean Car Manufacturers have evolved. From humble beginnings, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hundai, etc, have evolved into World Leaders in the Industry.

There is much profit potential in the US Coin biz. Chinese Counterfeiting technology will only get better. The old dies are now trash - hence the sale on eBay.

Shouldn't the design on any die, counterfit or not be incuse instead of raised?

So is that what they were using to make the fake coins?

Funny that the devices don't look recessed intot he die, though I am sure they are.

Yeah, these are serious hot potatoes. The importation by buying them is a very serious matter. The bidders' identities might be hidden from eBay users but not the Secret Service.
