Are customer service rants appropriate for the Coin Forum?
Sometimes I see rants that are IMO, unfair slams which are basically private business issues. Many times they are barely in the resolution phase, yet people seem to thrive on slamming dealers who have good reputaions just because of some glitch, billing error or trivial mistake.
I say....THINK TWICE...what if someone was posting about your job and jumped the gun on YOU and posted "Joe Blow sent a package to the wrong customer" or "Joe Blow looked down his secretary's V neck sweater"
...etc.
You are dealing with the reputations of people who, on the whole, are very competent. Some may not be, but WAIT until it really is a problem that seems unresolved.
Carry on.

<< <i>who saw me look down that sweater
and to think that I thought I was being considerate by saying "Joe Blow".
The good thing about the Internet is that it has given customers a "bully pulpit" to describe their experiences and air their grievances. The bad thing about the Internet is that it has given customers a "bully pulpit" to describe their experiences and air their grievances.
Even when the ranter is off-base. And even before they have contacted the appropriate people that can actually address the problem.
<< <i>These trivial customer service rants tend to do more damage to the Rantor than to the Rantee. While I do think that it is incumbent upon collectors in the forum to protect each other from real rip-offs, who amongst us has not had several minor shipping snafus over the years? The lack of patience and understanding by some is appalling. >>
" where is a pick of this secretary with the V neck sweater"

Pretty much by definition, unfair rants are ... unfair. That said, I, personally, have learned some things about various dealers from the rants over the years. As a result, there are now dealers with whom I will not do business because, if something goes bad, I have every confidence in the world that they will try to shaft me. Conversely, there also are now dealers from whom I am eager to buy from because of how they have responded to complaints. So I sure hope that dealer rants continue because they help provide me with a cheap education...plus some are really quite good entertainment!!

I feel part of the deal is that what's trivial to one is not too another.
Folks just don't seem to give things a bit of time to work out.
I feel a person should wait till the situation is cold and they know
they have been taken for a ride before they start a rant.
Too many start a rant, only to find they are the idiot.
Time for me to go hang out with non-whiners for two big games today - Tigers/Yanks and MSU/ Michigan. The coin forum continues to keep gtting negative/staying negative, and only makes my blood boil...
