Kennedy half question- Russ

I have a 2000-P Kennedy Half and the head looks a lot smaller that prior years.
Is this a known design change or an optical illusion or am I losing it?

Can you help me?image

    No camera, No pic

I am looking through $500 in halves. I think they changed the design in the 1990's to a smaller head Kennedy. All of the newer ones seem to be smaller heads, or at least the neck truncation does not go as far down to the date as in the earlier years. Just 2 40% silver halves in 1000 coins!

    Thank you for answering.

  • I have been through $250 in the past 10 days. Found a 1964 and thats it. May I ask which coins are not showing up in your rolls? I found very few 1989-1990, and almost no 1991 halves.

Yep, they changed to spaghetti head in 1991.

Did not keep track of dates, no 1964's & only two from 65-69. No 74-D DDO. Many without the reeded edge, not many from 2001-present.
Originally I went to the bank & got the branch's only roll....that contained a 1964 and three 40% silvers.
That was the reason I went for $500 worth, but the big search was not very satisfying.

Thank you Russ for the info. Shrunken head Kennedy sounds better than spaghetti head.

The Kennedy's from 1990 to 1991 was not really considered a design change...JFK got a "face lift" to show more definition in his spaghetti hair, wrinkles around the eyes, neck...and a really well defined ear. I think the Mint Engravers did a fine job of restoring this nice coin...to bad it's not used for circulation anymore.

Fastrudy- may I ask which bank you get your halves from?

Leap- I use to spend them when I finished searching through them, that is, until the sheriffs showed up at my house one night. I also stopped going to Subway resturants.
