<< <i>I saw a few lightly toned 1880 sell for $500, i thought a heavily toned example would be woth more. >>
It's not so much about whether the coin is lightly or heavily toned, but rather, how desirable the toning is. It's difficult to tell from your images, but the toning does not appear to be the $500 variety.
HUH???

I think, but am not certain, that he was being facetious. If that was the case, I believe it was a disservice to the original poster, who would probably not know that. If not, it appears that he is in the minority.

We sent in 20 coins and this is the best one that came back, just trying to see if we came out ahead on the grading to figure out if we should send more in.
<< <i>$200 -$1200 is a pretty wide range. >>
Actually, that's a VERY wide range. However, only one person was anywhere near the high end, and, as already mentioned, I think he was being facetious, in essence, having fun at your expense.
The estimates other than his were all fairly close and averaged out to be in the $200 range. That $200 figure might be high or low by a bit, but that's the best we can do based upon the images and not having the coin in hand.
