From that pic................not much at all over a generic white coin price IMO. It's not the type of toning that commands much of a premium to most toned Morgan enthusiasts.

Which auction venue? eBay, it's a $500 winner, easy. Teletrade, set a $700 buy back, you'll get more than that. Most beautiful Morgan I've seen IMHO.

I saw a few lightly toned 1880 sell for $500, i thought a heavily toned example would be woth more.

Now that I look at it again, I think you're right. But I wouldn't expect more than $1200-1500. Although it is fabulous.

It's not so much about whether the coin is lightly or heavily toned, but rather, how desirable the toning is. It's difficult to tell from your images, but the toning does not appear to be the $500 variety.

I think, but am not certain, that he was being facetious. If that was the case, I believe it was a disservice to the original poster, who would probably not know that. If not, it appears that he is in the minority.

I had this joke about "focus" but the decorum here prevents me from disclosing that subject. Good looking Morgan even out of focus. How about some better pics?

The coin came out of my dad's safety deposit box where it had been for 20 years until about 2 months ago when we pulled out 20 rolls and picked the best ones to send in for grading. Unfortunatley right after we got it back i snapped some quick, unclear pic's then it went right back in the box, I wont get a chance to see it again for awhile.

We sent in 20 coins and this is the best one that came back, just trying to see if we came out ahead on the grading to figure out if we should send more in.

Looks like album/envelope type of toning which is not really the big money colors, you need bright bag toning to get the big money especially on S mint Morgans.

    $200 -$1200 is a pretty wide range.

    << <i>$200 -$1200 is a pretty wide range. >>

Actually, that's a VERY wide range. However, only one person was anywhere near the high end, and, as already mentioned, I think he was being facetious, in essence, having fun at your expense.

The estimates other than his were all fairly close and averaged out to be in the $200 range. That $200 figure might be high or low by a bit, but that's the best we can do based upon the images and not having the coin in hand.

If you need someone to shoot GOOD pictures of that coin and/or list it on eBay for you I would be happy to do so. Send me a PM if you're interested.
