Gotta love the recent slew of newer people who hide their profiles, disable their PMs, and then go all negative on things in threads. Makes me wonder about alts...... >>

While ignoring specifics in this case, I wonder if the open forum might have deflected some
of this in the past. I also would like to point out that most legitimate newbies come here
without a profile or PM's. It takes time and some interaction before they are alerted to the
presense of these functions by someone who wants a private communication with them.

People who were treated badly would come back for revenge and be more likely to exact it
    on the open forum perhaps.

  • I have taken a bit of an hiatus for the past few months, but I am back in full swing now. My new company is Tarrant Numismatica, LLC and we have a web site currently being developed under the URL of www.tarrant-numismatica.com. Should be up in a few weeks. I will be focusing on early American numismatics, but will be involved in everything related to numismatics. Hence the name "Numismatica", which is really just a spin on "numismatics", but to me is a bit more broad spectrum. Numismatica is the Italian version of the word and I felt compelled to utilize it for a few personal reasons. Regardless, the new site will be more focused on numismatic education than my past endeavors and you will be "seeing" a lot of me. Not so much in person at shows, but through national publications and the internet. I will participate in national shows, but not to the extent that I did in the past...... again for family reasons.

I'm sorry, but this is spam. I read where a few people said the same only to be shot down. I'm sure Dennis is a real nice guy, but promoting your business in a thread seems like spam to me. At least many other people have been assaulted here for doing the same or similar. Obviously this fella is held to a different standard. As to why, i can only specualte. JMHO

Links please? I also hope that you can show us where those others had provided the information and help to collectors that Dennis has.
  • Mark,
You surely are kidding me. You need a link to a thread where people here callout spammers? Obviously if someone is known, pushing your internet site or your business is Ok, but if you come to the boards as an unknown and ask about excel, you're spamming? please

geeze.... lighten up people. Dennis is a returning member and is letting everyone know what his new handle is and a bit about what is going on with him.

Enough with the "hall pass monitors"...

  • I don't see any spam. I see somebody trying to catch his friends up with what has been going on with his life since he first left the forum.

Some people seem to be overreacting.

I agree it's news and not spam but there's no doubt people have been treated rudely
for less. I don't believe it's a double standard so much as the tendency of some threads
to just take a bad turn. Usually these are caused more by misunderstandings and "piling
    on" than anything else.

Certainly Numisma was well respected in his previous incarnation so even if we agreed
he was in the wrong I'd be inclined to allow him more leeway.

It's hardly surprising that there are differences of opinion on nearly all facets of the various
    posts and threads.

Thank you.....everyone.....for the kind words. I apologize if this had the appearance of spam. Most of you who know me personally knew, automatically, that I would not use the forum for spam. I have been here for over 6 years and would never think of it. I am not really in "this" for financial gain, but rather personal enjoyment. That's why I drive a '98 Taurus!!! And another thing.......the web site is NOT even up and running. It could be a month or more before it is functioning. Even then, the site will be mostly educational with very few (if any) coins on the site to start.

Nuff said. Let's have fun here. I have several posts to make that will be fun and educational. See you then........

    Dennis:

A heartfelt welcome back to the forum. I look forward to seeing your new website, to resuming a mutually beneficial relationship, and mostly to enjoying your educational postings. After reading some of what has been posted here, they should be a refreshing and welcome change.

Why bother even mentioning a website?

Whats the purpose if not for self promotion?

OK, Here is a link for you

Personally, I've handed over thousands of dollars to Dennis at shows some years ago, and I don't see any problem with him announcing his return with his new web site.

A few months back, there were a lot of questions as to what had happenned to Dennis, would he be back in coins, etc. By the responses in this thread, most of the forum members are glad to know of Dennis' whereabouts and plans. Those of you who are not interested, nothing is forcing you to open this thread and nothing is forcing you to respond.

that is a nice re introduction Dennis. My name is Joe, I collect anything that has a nice ring to it. Silver and gold does that. If they are very nice, I do prefer the protection that plastic offers. If they are collectible but not gems, I sell them on ebay. I am a machinist by trade, but my brothers conned me into steel roofs in 1997. I hope you have a nice day. My friend just got me a domain name... I tried several without success, but I got one last nite. Woo woo , It's cheezy, but hey... its ez, too.

I'll get a website after I get a few windows, siding , gutters, and roofs done. Life is good.

I think there has been a lot of pushing and shoving on these boards for some time.

Did anyone see that or is this just something my mind is imagining on the boards ?
You are welcome in my home, but please remove your shoes upon entry !
