Has anyone heard of a coin investing guru called David A. Vogel?
I ordered the QDB Virgil Brand book, and the seller included an old copy of Coinage in the package for free. The magazine is from 1994. In it there is a full page ad by David A. Vogel that deals with how to master-mind rare coin investing. The text makes such statements as "conspiracies in the marketplace", "become a rare coin shark", "the story of the doctor that bought a coin for $235,000 and sold it four months later for $1.1 million (this doctor's experience was the rule, not the exception under this investing program)", etc.
Does anyone know if David Vogel is still around, or has he retired with his millions from rare coin investing?

When we are planning for posterity, we ought to remember that virtue is not hereditary.

Yeah. Probably not the same guy, though.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

Vocations such as these frequently follow extended vacations at Club Fed. Russ, you might have it nailed.

He has an (old?) web page at link.

Believe it or not he's made millions and is living in a condo in Trump Tower. He has other people running the clinic so he just spends his time counting his money. Sometimes it's really true that real life is stranger than fiction.
<< <i>David did not always deliver what he advertised he would. I do not believe that he is involved in numismatics any longer. >>
Also, he was kicked out of the ANA some years back, too.
