The "hypocritical dichotomy" of our membership!!

Am I the only one confused when someone calls into question the practices of a big-time dealer and subsequently is taken to task by a member who regularly interferes with auctions at eBay in the name of fraud protection?? That seems a bit disingenuous in a sucking-up sort of way to me. Strangely, the nature of this forum tends to foster that type of behavior. From my lofty perch both acts would seem either bad or good, one can't be seperated from the other just due to the nature of who the member is or who the dealer is. That's hypocricy at it's worst.
BTW, some members who frequent eBay with regularity as sellers and buyers know what auction interference is. I wonder why they think it's OK to perpetuate that kind of stuff when their whiney nature demonstrates that thewy'd scream the loudest if someone did likewise to their auctions, but that life at the forum. So go ahead guys, when these auction interference threads pop up slather on the praise.
If you need to know who I'm talking about, just PM. I think a smart cookie shouldn't need to do that. And SM1, why don't you delete those threads?? If we're going to be deleting stuff which only protects certain people for obvious reasons, well, that really lowers the value of what this forum can be.
Man, do I feel better now.

A lot here fit all four categories.D
That's your problem- you're not down here with the people- power to the people!!
In every auction in which I bid, I was prepared to follow through with a payment in the event that the seller actually had the (genuine) coin to deliver, and I am unaware of an instance in which I was mistaken about the seller being a scammer.
Your comparing my accusations/actions (or those of another) against scammers, to those of a forum member whom, in what looks to be an effort to stir the pot, "calls into question the practices of a big-time dealer" without any factual basis, is misplaced.
Additionally, if I or others had items up for sale on Ebay which were counterfeit or which we didn't have to deliver, I/we wouldn't "scream the loudest if someone did likewise to their auctions".
You're a smart guy, but, in my opinion, at least, one who prefers to take cheap shots, as opposed to making your points in an intellectually honest fashion.

So, your comparing going after eBay con artists with an unwarranted and false allegation leveled against a legitimate dealer? I'd always assumed you were smart enough to see the difference. My mistake.

actually, i'd have to be taking your word about the latter and the former doesn't really matter. with the eBay antics that regularly take place, no matter how righteous the stand is that's taken and how much i might agree that an auction isn't proper, the ends don't necessarily justify the means. as to the big shot dealer situation, i'm not privvy to the thread since it's gone while you had the chance to read it, and similarly, i am privvy to some of the PM's that were sent while you aren't, so i guess we should call that a wash.
<< <i>Keets, I'll take the bait in the event that you're speaking of me - and my guess is that you are, since most others here who bid in such auctions don't use their non-secret Ebay user-name as I do. If you are referring to me, I challenge you to show me just ONE instance where I "interfered" with an Ebay listing that was other than an obviously counterfeit coin or one being offered by a scammer who didn't/couldn't have had it to deliver.

I like intellectual honesty. Mental masturbation is another thing entirely
The OP's assertion that smoe members engage in auction interference - and that it is hypocritical - made me laugh. What originally attracted me to the boards, and the only reason I became a member, was the effort that some members made in outing an Ebay fraud. I believe that the severity of smoe of the "problems" that have been exposed were overstated - but for the most part the actions of the members of this board have been positive. I've not seen auction interference by Mark, or any of the other coin posse, even if it seemed warranted. Sending Ebay messages to sellers asking them questions isn't auction intereference.
What other members have taken upon themselves to do, I cannot speak on. If they want to expose themselves to Ebay bamming or even lawsuits through auction interference, so be it. No one here ever told them to do it, or if they did- those members have the power to say no.
If a big-time dealer steps in it - then the big time dealer needs to be held to account. Whether they care or not about what goes on here is another thing entirely.

you must have forgotten that i'm in a tree at the topmost branch, i can't get over myself, nor can you. BTW, it is about coins at two different internet sites and tactics used by seperate members to impugn the sellers.
Keets -- Your opening post is too vague for me to understand. If you have something to say, please say it plainly.

Where did the cops go?? Probably to the donut shop to fill their tanks.
