A coin that isn't worth diddly squat that I absolutely love.

RussRuss Posts: 48,514 ✭✭✭
You guys have a coin that you keep handy just because you like to stare at it sometimes? I keep this one on my desk:

image

It isn't worth jack because it's only graded PR67DCAM. But, it makes my heart go pitter pat.

PR67DCAM, it must be Bush's fault!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

It's the strongest I've ever found. It literally looks like a presentation medal.

Russ, if it keeps you twitterpated, that's all that matters. Likewise, I've got a Deep Cameo "California" proof Morgan that I keep entombed for fear of breathing too heavily on it...and it was a he// of a lot cheaper than the real deal to enjoyimage

Certainly not a high value coin, but I'll bet, to a real Kennedy fan, it would be worth more than a typical 68 DCAM like this one:

    image

I saw a '56 Franklin with frost like that once at a dealer's. It was only graded 66DCAM. I offered the guy twice what normal '56 DCAMs were going for for it and he laughed at me.

BTW, what limits the grade on yours? I certainly can't see anything on your pics that would knock it down to 67.

Nice 1969-S Russ. And it is certainly a DCAM, not like many of them where you have to guess. Especially the 1971-S halves.

Market value for an average PR67DCAM would be $20 to $25. But, I've turned down three times that much for this one.

Yup, I'm a bidder on that one and I'm not even a JFK collector. So your diddly squat premise is blown...

Nice frost! Looks like a high end '78 or '79...

Russ will score like a pig when PCGS introduces the UDCAM designation. Don't laugh. It's inevitable.

Seeing the difference between Russ's pic and other coins similarly graded, I agree with you Andy.

Nice 1971-S, ksteelheader! Most 1971-S halves are ugly, regardless of what their grade is.
