My oldest US mint coin is 1794, I have two large cents and a half from this year. If I can ever figure out how to load my own avatar I'll make one of them my avatar. I have some colonial coins that are older but don't have them organized yet.

OK. Forget the ancients (most of mine were traded off anyway).
My niece found a round stone which appears to have been carved by natives near the tip of Lake Superior some years back. Many of these date from before European settlement. They're not truly coins but some are believed to have functioned somehat like a token.
While they aren't mine (so far as I know), there were ancient Roman coins found in a cave in Kentucky in 1927 and published in National Geographic. What makes this find so interesting is that the cave was know to have been sealed since before Columbus. Perhaps these "circu- lated" among the indians of the time.
I'll go... Years ago I built a World Century Type set.... (I still have it) I got it back to the 5th century B.C. with an Egyptian Pharosalos from 480 bc. The set consist's of 26 coin's, One from each Century.....

US: 1803 Half cent I also have a Pillar Dollar from 1751. It's in redbook, but I don't think this counts.
Darkside (post-Medieval) Elizabeth I silver sixpence from the 1570's (1579, if I recall correctly)
Ancient: Western: Roman republic circa 126 BC Eastern: Pan-Liang, Qin/Ch'in Dynasty Emperor Shih Huang-Ti 221-209BC I also have an Ant-nose from China. That would put it at 600 - 300 BC, but it's hardly recognizeable as a coin. The Pan-Liang is very clearly a coin.
I have a denerus of Geta, a Roman co-emperor, which was minted in 198 AD. The denerus was the “dollar” in the Roman system of coinage.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
