I just ordered a couple silver sets and one gold set. The wooden box for the gold set got to me.
Now that I've ordered the gold set, it probably means the value will drop like a stone. Oh well at least it will have a melt value.

Hate to be a killjoy, but the 1995-W silver eagle is a completely different situation. There are a large number of collectors who maintain sets of silver eagles. For that reason the 1995-W “hole” in their collection is something they are disparate to fill.
We should take a poll on how many forum members are maintaining a complete set of the one ounce gold eagle. I dare say there are very few because of the high cost of each piece. For that reason I don’t see this tuning into another 1995-W silver eagle.

You'd be surprised how many people collect Gold eagles, I can certainly guarantee much more than 10,000. Combine the small mintage w/ the first ever reverse proof, and the addition of the 'W' mint mark on the Unc. and you have the stars aligning for a spectacular success.
The 10th anniversary set was a limit of 30,125, so there are only that many 1995 ASE W's and their over 5K right now. Granted there are not nearly as many AGE collectors trying to fill a spot, there will still ONLY be 10K of the reverse proof AGE. My thought is that 10k of any US Minted coin is a real small number.
Then of those 10K, how many will be sent to grade.... maybe 1/2 at most, so now were at 5K. Then of the 5K maybe 10% of those will be home runs and come back as 70's. If a person was lucky enough to have that low of mintage coin in a pr70dcam, I think you would be feeling pretty good in about 10 years.
The downside of the gold is ....... you'd still own 3 ounces of gold (I'm already a buyer of bullion because I think it will still climb); while the upside of maybe having a shot at a slabbed 70 with that low of production is pretty high.
Who knows for sure, but I convinced myself already.

I believe the mintage of the Silver 95 - W was a little over 30,000.
I also agree that the Gold is a different animal. But the Eagles are very collectable. If there is ONE to get, it'll be these.
I also agree that 10,000 is very low by today's standards.
I'm hoping that if a Silver dollar Eagle can sell for $5000, a Gold Eagle can sell for the same or more. Thats all I need, I'm not gready.
I just ordered the 3 coin gold set. Seems like a good deal when you consider the limited mintage, its beautiful, and has the intrensic (spelling?) value of the gold itself. What if gold goes up between now and the ship date? Does anyone know if they will up the price?

I bought a gold set. Logic is there where 12,000 AGE gold proofs that already sold out at the mint. Who bought them? Must of been collectors.
So me thinks there just maybe a bit a demand for this reverse proof AGE included the set. And only 10,000 will be made. Again I could be out in left field on this one. But if so then I got three pretty coins.

My Error. I left out the A11 Set. So the A11 is the Unc of each with the W mint mark distiguishing them from the standard bullion.

Correct me, if I am wrong, but I think that the BU eagles in all these sets have a W mintmark on them, both silver and gold. That is going to make them all more valuable than just the normal run.

I ordered 10 silver and 1 gold. But I am now having second thoughts. I may have ordered too many silvers and not enough golds. I am thinking of changin the order to 2 golds and 2 silvers.
Is there any reason to keep my original gold coin order but cancel the silver and then place a new order for 1 gold and 2 silvers. Or should I juct cancel the order entirely, and place a whole new order. Only difference I can think of is the possible shipping cost, but is it possible my later order will never get filled as they run out?

Silver and Gold uncirculated AE in these sets are minted by using "bunished blanchets" while regular uncirculated AE silver and gold were not.
