The “Jackson gold” (Classic head $2.50 and $5) has been a source of fascination for me since I first learned of its existence as a YN back in the late 1960s. This was first nice example I purchased for my collection. I still remember the day I purchased it, which was my 21st birthday.
Back then this coin was graded as a choice AU. Today it qualifies as an MS-62.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
Bought it yesterday after looking at the image many, many times:
Provenance:George F. Seavey (William H. Strobridge, 1873); Lorin G. Parmelee; M.A. Brown (S.H. and H. Chapman, 4/1897), lot 743; George H. Earle, Jr. (Henry Chapman, 6/1912), lot 3362; Foster Lardner (United States Coin Co., 11/1914), lot 7; later, R.E. Naftzger, Jr. (A. Kosoff, 4/1956), lot 9; Dorothy Nelson (Stack's, 2/1976), lot 7; New England Rare Coin Galleries; Bowers and Merena (circa 1978-1979); later, 1987 ANA (Bowers and Merena, 8/1987), lot 27; Samuel H. Kaeppel (Bowers and Merena, 6/1991), lot 1155; Samuel H. Kaeppel (Bowers and Merena, 11/1991), lot 2005; Samuel H. Kaeppel (Bowers and Merena, 3/1992), lot 2371.
There are so many beautiful coins. For me the 1857 and 1858 Flying Eagle Cent proofs are at the top of the list. When the Flyer proof possesses strong cameo contrast, deeply reflective mirrors, and a faint hue of baby's skin pink, then no other coin compares to it's elegance and beauty, IMO.

I bought this raw off ebay:
I've only had this about a month, but it's become one of my favorites:

That wreath cent is the deal! I would love to own any coin pre-1795; but one like that is simply amazing!
That is one coin I would never get tired of viewing!
