  Hey AU58walkers, I bought a CBH like that one years ago thinking that it "wasn't too bad", the price was cheap back then and I didn't know better, but thought it might come around. It never did. I have no clue where that coin is today or I would take a pic of it for comparison.
  Maybe if this one could be dipped gently and put away in an album or envelope to re-tone, it may come around better next time around.

  Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

  My thoughts exactly....in fact I just finished the dip process, only insted of album/envelope,
  I am going to carry it in pocket change with $3.00 of crusty walkers, std lib qrts, and mercury dimes for the next couple of years.
  
  then into a envelope. Let the next generation sort it out. The only way I could think of "conserving" this one.
  In fact they are in my pocket now.

  My advice would be to leave well enough alone and accept the coin for what it is. Screwing with it will probably make the situation worse. Besdies the basic coin is only an EF, so what is the advantage to "improving" it? There is no mint luster to "bring back."

  Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

  I disagree Bill.
  The coin will never be better than a 45, but as it is now, it is a 45 that I wouldn't want in my collection. Now if it had that mistake removed and it had a chance to become a decent re-toned 45, it would probably find a place in a nice circulated set.

  This coin will always be ugly, no matter what is done to improve it.JMHO

  I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.
