Would this Bust Cross?

I shouldn't even look at these since I don't know that much about them. But just comparing what I see this looks like a nice coin. Do you think it could get into a PCGS holder at the same or better grade?

Should it cross? From the pic, no. (IMO it has no place in a 45 holder from any TPG)
Will it cross? Probably not.
Can it cross at the same grade? Yes.

Thanks. I'd like to get my first half bust soon, but want one in a PCGS holder. This one has some eye appeal... at least for me.

If you "cross at any grade," probably so. Otherwise, I doubt it.

Hey richardshipp,
I'm not sure I like this one that much either. I don't like the wear for a 45 or the obverse field in front of the face for a 45.
The color looks too saturated in those pics also.
There are a lot of really nice 45's in both NGC and PCGS (as well as raw) holders out there. Keep looking.

Whatever will you do if you find an attractive NGC one? Sounds like you collect plastic.

Who cares what the holder is. It's the coin you're buying, right?

I'll bet that coin probably looks pretty nice in hand.

I think that it is sharp enough to grade EF-45. I've seen worse when it comes to wear and lack of detail in AU-50 holders.

BUT I'm no fan of the color of this piece. It's either AT or it was dipped improperly and toned to this color as a result.

Tough crowd today- I would think that one has been cleaned and retoned, but it retoned pretty nicely- overall good eye appeal from my perspective....

This coin has definately been at least dipped. It is not original. Find one with some crust

Agree. I think it would normally slab, but it's certainly not original. On a coin this old, a light cleaning is often acceptable if it has mostly retoned.

Cleaned and retoned. PCGS likely would grade it XF40. I don't like the coin. There are many common late dates out there in PCGS holders, so don't rush to buy.
