Found Minnesota extra tree in unopened 2005 mint set ... (pics added)

well, it was unopened until today. Much to my surprise needless to say. This is a scan, center of the extra tree shows up dark in the scan.

Keez, I am very happy for you and it is good to know there is still hope.
Do you care to share the shipping date?
It's always the other guy
I've never sent anything in to be certified as I'm new to collecting. Should this be sent in or kept in the mint set package.
I was looking for pics on other threads but they are all show up as red x now.
I guess there are different looks to them, would like to know which one mine is.
It definitely is an extra tree -- but looks a bit different.
Scan isn't showing the middle section very well. Also, mine has more to it on the lower section than the variety example shows.

I've heard that there are 3 varieties. Maybe this is one?
NOTE: No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

I would have to agree.

Last I heard it was up to four doubled dies, though only three of them show an extra tree. Could be another 1972 outburst.

Personally, I'd keep it in its original packaging, at least for now but that's just me. I'm sure there are some who would pay a premium to buy one of these in the Mint celo, and we've seen what some have realized on ebay, raw.
How many types are there anyway and can someone provide pictures?
Edited to add: And no the photo was not reversed!
The name is LEE!
<< <i>What in the world happened at the U.S. Mint that caused this many different versions??? >>
Laziness, lack of attention to detail, poor quality control, mis-management !

<< <i>Update: My Mint set, satin finish Minnesota P quarter is a variety 4 and is very nicely photographed on Ken Potter's site and on the Numismatic News site that is linked to from his site.

Thanks for the update.
It's also nice to see that they are trying to all list these with the same numbers in each cataloging system.
I cannot believe it. Nothing else was found.
