He wasn't on the phone, but he did keep leaning back and talking to people that kept poking their heads through the curtains behind him, I assume they were lackey's of his or part of the show promoters or something...He signed both of those pieces for me (the 16x20 and the helmet) I said Hello...Please...Thank You...pleasure to meet you...etc.. I got nothin'.... Jerry Rice on the other hand was fantastic and Dwight Clark was fantastic as well. Aikman signed the same time too and was very nice. If it makes you feel any better lawnmowerman, I"ll post the pic of the Aikman signed helmet I got that day too. image

Sorry to bring up such painful memories...if it helps, my Vikings traded a few super bowls to you in exchange for Herschel Walker, so seeing Cowboys stuff from that era always bothers me. image

This item is on it's way from the Pujols Family Foundation - a pair of 2006 Game Used Autographed Batting Gloves worn by Albert Pujols with the COA signed by him as well. As soon as I have them, I will post a picture.

<< Oh yeah, Dave the Aikman jersey you had signed in person right? I ask because I bought a card on ebay from a very reputable auto dealer. It was a 1991 UD Aikman auto'd card. The sig is exactly the same as the one on your jersey. Aikman's sig has changed over the years. The "T" becoming more rounded then his previous style. I sent the card to PSA to be authenticated and slabbed but it came back unauthentic. I wonder how up to date psa/dna is on players auto's that have obviously changed. His old auto looked like this:

Matt, yes i recieved it in person at the National and it does look like he has changed his sig over the years

I would rather smack nails thru my nose then to have to see this again.

Got any extra nails Matt image

    PS nice stuff guys

Jerry Rice is a class guy, he was hanging out at a lounge at the Palms in Las Vegas and I approached him expecting the worst. He was very cordial and even introduced me to his wife. I didn't ask for an autograph because it just didn't feel right.
  • Thought i'd share a couple more things

Willie Mays came to the local Pine Belt Chevy dealership back in 1982 and got there bright and early to recieve his auto

Mookie lived in my hometown for sometime while he played for the Mets. He did a signing at a cardshow at the local Parish back in the mid-80's

Dave, Mookie looks like the nicest guy! Thanks for sharing!

    Matt
  • Mookie was a very friendly guy and actually asked me my name so the auto would be personalized

On a side note, my wife was in the same class as Mookie's son Preston one year in grade school. It's ashame she couldn't of gotten an auto of him back then lol

Hey Mike - I hadn't been keeping up with this thread. This one isn't mine (I have 3 or 4 of them) but here's what it looks like:

    image
    Mark (amerbbcards)

"All evil needs to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
  • Mine would have to be a 16x20 poster of Michael Jordan standing at the foul line by himself shooting a freethrow in a practice red Nike Jersey. The poster is signed in silver sharpie and the sig is like 2 inches tall, and I have the same jersey as in the poster signed in silver sharpie also.
  • I don't have a picture of it(no digi yet) but;

Willie Harris autographed game used bat. It was his personal bat in Single A ball and I had box seats next to the dugout, he thought he cracked it and walked back to give it to trash it most likely and I asked him if I could have it(He got out, and it was the end of the inning). I'd gotten autos from him maybe 5-6 times during the season; and he recognized me and gave me the bat. He told me to stick around and not to leave before the game ended. So he auto'd it and I told he'd make the big leagues(Honest to god, a play I saw him make as a 2b about 5 feet to the left of 2nd base, a diving grab and throw to first and got the out. Right then I was like, this kids got it). Well, he won a ring with Chicago last year as a utility player/reserve. Now he's a member of the Red Sox as a backup CF. He's nobody great, but it was pretty cool.

    Some other favorites of mine
    Warren Spahn auto'd baseball ttm
A few Orlando Cabrera autos(Another guy I thought would make it back when he played in Single A)
Auto'd ball with Javier Vasquez, Micheal Bennett, and Orlando Cabrera autos(They all played on the same Single A team. It won the SAL title when they were there)
    Collecting;
    Mark Mulder rookies
    Chipper Jones rookies
    Orlando Cabrera rookies
    Lawrence Taylor
    Sam Huff
    Lavar Arrington
    NY Giants
    NY Yankees
    NJ Nets
    NJ Devils
1950s-1960s Topps NY Giants Team cards

Looking for Topps rookies as well.

    "Hey BigDaddyBowman-
I like the wall display you have in the photo of your son in the helmet. Nice way to display your cards."

Sorry havn't been on in a while to post. Thanks. I love all the Cowboy stuff..keep it coming in guys!

Here is a picture of the entire wall display of cards from that picture. The two smaller ones are from Pennzoni that I customized by making vertical instead of horizontal. The one in the middle is one that the wood shop teacher at the school I am Athletic Director at built for me. It holds 66 graded cards. I am going to get him to make 2-3 more for me. He does an amazing job.

Wow, you guys have posted some really neat stuff.

I just posted this in Mike's "Mail" thread, but I wanted to post it here as well.

I finally got them today from UPS. These are games used with both autographed. Also, the COA has an original autograph as well.

WoW, what another awesome display of some really nice stuff! Thanks for taking the time to share, everyone!

Something I had laying out that I like a lot is the first item I picked up and purchased when my wife and I started antique shopping when we bought our old (1909!) home back in '98. It's an ashtray showing a spectacular Minneapolis Tribune 1965 headline -- just wish they could've beat those dang Dodgers in the Series...

[edited to add: Stone! Note the little headline to the right about Manager Mele!]

This is a personal piece of memorabilia. Its the Jersey I wore at 9 years old to the playoff games vs. the Giants and Rams and then to the Super Bowl at the Superdome vs the Pats. I only wish I started keeping ticket stubs back then. I was shocked that my dad and uncle wanted to go to New Orleans for the Super Bowl, but I was thrilled to be included. The jersey still fits as it was one of my dads in the late 70's-80's and I needed an XL to fit it over my winter coat in 1985 to go to the games in the dead of winter.

I wore it last year to the playoff game vs. Carolina. I think the luck has wore off but I'll keep the jersey forever.

    Holy thread resurrection image

Was going through some stuff this morning and came across my old HOF bat. I collected the signatures from about 89 - 93 and all were done in person. I stopped because the prices, at the time, were starting to get out of whack. I remember paying $75 for Reggie's auto and thinking, "You have got to be kidding me!!". Funny, that's a bargin today. If someone comes into town for an autograph session, I may start it up again...

    Signed by the following:

    Spahn
    Schoendiest
    Kilebrew
    Drysdale
    Brooks Robinson
    Gibson
    Carew
    Jackson
    Musial
    Billy Williams
    Mize
    Banks
    Catfish Hunter
    Lemon
    Whitey Ford
    Slaughter
    Eddie Mathews
    Bench
    Brock
    Jenkins
    Irvin
    Morgan

I don't collect much memorabilia but I do have a couple things that I'm kind of proud of. I was working in Denver when Coors Field opened and went to the very first game ever played there. I kept my ticket stub and also bought an extra ticket to keep. A week or so after the game I was able to pick up a Colorado Rockies/Coors Field Commerative bat serial numbered 149/300, a Sandlot Brewery baseball and a Opening Day baseball lilited to 2000. The coolest thing that I got was 5 bottles of the Coors Brown Ale that was bottled at the Sandlot Brewery to commerate opening day of the season. From what I understand that was the only time the Sandlot Brewery ever bottled the beer and sold it outside of the stadium. I'll have to try and dig them all out for my closet and take a couple pictures to post.

I'm just a baseball fan in general and love the history of it....so, when I saw this picture at a local arts show I had to have it. It was done from an original negative owned by Bruce Murray. (Bruce Murray Site) His Grandson is selling these limited pictures and they are beautiful. Check the page and look at the Ty Cobb running and smiling picture....talk about RARE! That man never smiled from everything I ever read!

Fantastic stuff guys.. I must have been MIA when this thread started.. very flattering to find some of the cards I made in here as favourites. image

Here's mine.. though he's still wearing it until December 6th I technically own it as I pre-ordered it from MeiGray.com. image He broke one of the Great One's records and also acheived his 500th point wearing it.
