Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

What is your favorite piece of memorabilia that

you own. It can be a card, jersey, auto'd photo ... you get the idea. Lets all try to post pics or scans of the item so we can all see and enjoy. I know everyone has alot of stuff that they like but try and pick that one piece that brings back the best memories or just the one you like the best.

I would like to try and get everyone away from the RichG thread and let it go away like the irritable rash it has becomeimage Lets focus more on what this forum is about and see some stuff!

Mine would be this card. It brings me back to a good time period in my life. I am sure it helped that the Cowboys were in the middle of their "dynasty" at the time.

  • If I had to pick one favorite, it would be the Ruth/1926 World Series ticket stub display.

I guess mine would be the 1936 Yankees Team ball I just picked up. I don't do much with memorabilia per se (I consider autographed cards to be cards, not memorabilia).

Here are a couple of items I recently added that I really enjoy. One is a signature of Joe D. that Knuckles turned into a work of art. For some reason, I will find myself checking it out at least once a week while I watch TV.

    image

    image

The second is a pocket watch from the Hunt Auction of the Joe D estate. It wasn't running when I got it. It is at the watch repair shop right now being serviced. It was funny, the shopkeeper said "This looks brand new, when was the last time it ran?" I felt like saying 30 years ago, but I didn't. My guess is Joe never took it out of the box, but I think it is pretty cool. I always wanted a pocket watch, my last name starts with D so the monogram works, so why not?

    image

Edited to add: The forbidden word check stopped my first post as I had combined pocket watch into one word. It didn't allow the letters "t wat" to run together.
Best laugh I had all day! image

This is the program from my first visit to Wrigley. I was 9 years old. I remember screaming, "Dad, that's Pete Rose!" when I saw Rose walking about 20 feet away from me shortly after we got to the ballpark. I also got Rick Reuschel's autograph on the front of the program.

  • Mine is a US Open golf flag signed by 44 different winners of the Masters, British Open, US Open, or PGA Championship. I think all together the guys on it have won close to 100 majors and they go from the 1950's until now. I have been getting players on their for the last 5 years. My goal is 50 different on the flag before I have it framed.

I don't have a favorite but here's work in progress:

A 1953 Batting Order signed by the manager - Lou Boudreau - batting third: Teddy

I may only include a couple of pics with it - perhaps the Lou and Williams:

I will be getting the individual pieces authenticated before the item gets framed.

My favorite card..1950 Bowman Sammy Baugh. It is not my most expensive card, it is not my best conditioned card, but it is my most "valuable and meaningful" card. When my wife and I were dating, I dragged her along to a card show. Money was pretty tight in college and I had a very low budget to work with. I was looking for this card, it would be one of the first vintage cards that I would own. I went to this table and the dealer would not budge from $100, so I had to walk away. While I was at other tables, my wife went back to the table and bought the card for me. Even better..she got him to accept $50.00 for it! How she did it baffles me..and she laughs when I question her on what she had to do to get such a great price! Any girl that will buy a Baugh was definately marriage material, and we got engaged soon after.

    image

My favorite non-card piece is my Sammy Baugh autographed replica leather helmet. Here is a pic of my son wearing it. My wife thought it was funny to take this pic...I wasn't as amused, but nonetheless this is the only pic I have of it.

    image

Finally, this is my most favorite Cowboy piece. I have been a Dallas fan for over 30 years, since my grandparents gave me a Staubach jersey and helmet for Christmas one year. When my wife gave me the pics for Christmas five years ago, I just loved it. One of the other pics from this shoot had the helmet that my grandparents gave me back in 1975 in the background. That pic is hanging in my living room!

    Any volleyball players here?

Game worn Jeff Stork jersey from the 1988 Olympic Gold men's indoor volleyball. I played USVBA for several years with Jeff's older brother Brian. Jeff donated items for our club team and this was one of them. Brian won the jersey in a fundraiser, besting me by a few points (even family members had difficulty getting Jeff's memorabilia) but many years later this become a wedding present from Brian's family to ours - in a word priceless!

Oh yeah, Dave the Aikman jersey you had signed in person right? I ask because I bought a card on ebay from a very reputable auto dealer. It was a 1991 UD Aikman auto'd card. The sig is exactly the same as the one on your jersey. Aikman's sig has changed over the years. The "T" becoming more rounded then his previous style. I sent the card to PSA to be authenticated and slabbed but it came back unauthentic. I wonder how up to date psa/dna is on players auto's that have obviously changed. His old auto looked like this:

  • I happen to think mine is better than any Babe Ruth or Ty Cobb auto or Black Betsy or anything else. Took my daughter to her first game at the age of 4 and she "caught" a foul ball. Actually a few people missed it and it rolled right to her - she had no idea what was going and didn't realize she could keep it. Stuff money will never be able to buy.

I was doing a business deal with Neil Kirk, the apprentice film editor for The Natural. He gave me this 2nd draft revision of the shooting script, dated August 2, 1982. He also gave me an 8x10 promo sheet for the film that was handed out at the opening. Needless to say, I keep both pieces together with my Roy Hobbs rookie cards:

Matt, I think PSA is really overzealous on Aikman and Jim Kelly. They both used an autopen for most of the TTM autos and the early insert autos. I've seen Jim Kelly proline autos listed as autopen and REAL and real brings a ton more.

Been meaning to ask you anyway, do you collect any mark stepnoski or just emmitt/aikman? A few years ago they were looking to add Stepnoski to the local wall of honor and didn't have a good color pic showing his face. I gave them a few cards to use, and they dropped off a few pins from the dedication. If you collect him PM your address and I'll send you one.

  • Mine is a tough one. I have Vladimir Guerrero's first two minor league jerseys that he ever wore as a professional ball player here in the United States. The first one is from 1994 when he played with the Gulf Coast Expos in the Rookie League. It is autographed and comes with a letter from the team. I have two cards showing him wearing the exact jersey. The second jersey is his Albany Polecats jersey that he wore in 1995. I have two cards showing him wearing this exact jersey also.

I also have a game used glove that Pee Wee Reese wore during the 1956 season. that is also one of my favorites.

I have pictures but it won't let me post them as it keeps saying the file is too big.

I love memorabilia. I've been slowly picking up more and more, and even traded some of my better modern cards to acquire some of it.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Got this at the Tri-Star show in KC a year or two ago. It's hanging on the wall now.
    image

This was signed in person at the Tri-Star show in KC a couple years back
    image

along with this. (and might I add, Joe was not the most pleasant signer. For $160 / sig, he could have looked up or spoken)
    image

Got this in a collection I bought. (Has Killebrew, Mays, Aaron, F. Robinson and Reggie Jackson)
    image

Really liked Ripken growing up, so I have this jersey and I have a signed rookie year model bat (in the gallery)
    image

I also have a couple of Unitas signed pieces that I really like. But this should take up enough bandwidth as it is. image

That 78 Cubs program is awsome. My favorite piece of memorabilia has to be my autograph of my all time favorite announcer and former Mayor of Rush street Harry Carry. Other signers on the ball are former Cubs, Bill Buckner, Ron Cey, Leon Durham, Jay Johnstone, Dallas Green (GM at the time) and Bill "Soup" Cambell.
