<< <i>The guys who set up phony accounts to bid and interfere in this auction - you do realize that you could be kicked off eBay permanently if found out, don't you?
I mean by any means of identity - I.P. address, etc.
I'm as much against fraudulent sellers as the next guy, but I don't think I would personally take that risk. If it is a fraudulent listing, you are supposed to report it and leave it at that. >>
If I was going to interfere with an auction, I would do it with an account created with an email address entirely unrelated to my real ones, and log in from a public terminal at a library or internet cafe.
That's how I'd do it. I'm not sure how eBay could track such activity back to the real me. >>
Hi Bob:
True, unless of course you bragged about it on some forum, and someone who didn't like you turned you in... Then it could get a bit problematic, couldn't it?

Those who have these accounts are not stupid. Some of them have been around for three or four years.

You mean, around here - around eBay? So what?
Interesting, the apparent situational ethics of the crusaders in this thread. Break the rules for the greater good.
The end justifies the means? I do not think this is trivial at all, and is worth honest discussion.

The "so what" is that you warned that using a vigilante account could get somebody kicked off eBay permanently. I simply noted that some of these accounts have been doing it for several years, and there's been no action from eBay. In fact, a couple of them are so obvious that I have no doubt eBay is well aware of their activities and the reason behind them.

<< <i>What sort of dumazed beotch is that seller? Totally a gone case. I think she needs a long rest in a very quite resort-type atmosphere.
She bought fat burner pills.
