Just figure you could buy the coin at the price list in the Redbook.

I ignored the instructions and used my own estimate of market value. I would assume that Redbook is much lower than $50,000 for my coin, and my price is probably high (I needed a little extra to bribe Reece to stay away

I'd be looking for a 1792 Half Disme. I've always wanted one. I feel that they are worth every penny you can buy one for. And it's just plain cool to own a piece of silver that belonged to the Washington's.

IGWT, I was fortunate to see that coin in-hand, it's even cooler than the photos show.

I would get a 1848 CAL $2.5 Lib. I guess a strong XF would be about $50K. It's a coin that's always fascinated me. Arguably the first US commemorative issue... the CAL punch hand-stamped... California gold rush gold... wow.

I would totally get a Pan Pac 50 dollar gold piece. Although I think those sell for more than 50K. How about one of the original 12 Confederate cents? Or an original Confederate Half-Dollar? Those probably cost more than 50K too. It's fun to dream!

I may not disagree which is why I said just use Redbook prices. I could have said greysheet but wanted to be close to realistic.

Haven't looked in a red book in some time. A silver centered cent or a disme, if either of those are priced around there still in the red book.

Would purchase the 1840-O seated dime in NGC65 holder that is sitting in dealer inventory at the moment. It came out of a Stack's sale as a raw coin and slabbed 65. Yes, I know that the purchase won't use all of the $50K, then simply would do a little shopping with Legend. Laura has an 1878-CC dime that I'm in love with, just haven't justified the asking price or close to it.

An 1878-S seated half dollar in the highest problem free grade that $50K would buy. (It is the only one i still need for my set) However even a P1 with a big hole through the middle is out of my buying range-

a gem proof deep cameo alightly better date ten dollar gold from the 1880's-1890's

big beautiful and proof gold

cant get any better than that

and brilliant proof tens are the scarcest of the pre 1907 brilliant proof gold type coins

and still opportunity value coins and not run up in price like their larger double eagle older brothers

Some type of nice MS63 to MS66 draped bust dime to half.
A gem MS65 draped bust quarter comes right to mind.

Would consider a pop 1 finest known gem/choice Seated quarter or
half. Finding the coin is most of the battle. Some of these have yet to be discovered to the market. An MS67 1857-0, 1858-0, 1859-0
25c would be a nice score. An MS68 pre-1853 seated quarter of any date would also be a good candidate.

I would go for the best 1802 half dime that I can get for my $50,000. Many great collections of U.S. coins did not have one, and they seldom appear for sale. Plus, I need to plug the hole in my set, of course.
