So are these new coins going to have the same problems that the earlier buffalo nickels had in regards to the date wearing quickly? It would be such a shame to see the horn and date both worn completely off of these new ones.

If you're gonna start spending them, bring em right over here and spend them, I'll give you $75 credit for each!

I think you're confusing the Liberty head nickel with the Indian head nickel.

Thanks for posting the pics XpipedreamR, great job. I wonder if these Buffalo's will look more yellow without having the nickel and copper in the metal mix?

I can't imagine they'll touch enough human skin, or rattle around inside enough pockets, to get worn at all....
Wow! I want a herd of them! I wish the mint would create new and beautiful designs, but in failing that, this one looks pretty darn nice.

You can do alot better than that price. So far, I see three known websites listing them...though I have been 'invited' to buy at inflated prices as well, not to mention the flea-bay run-ups (One is over $651 right now)
TULVING using gold spot 570.75 selling PCGS MS-69 slabbed for 595.75 (spot+$25) 20 coin minimum (!!)
APMEX gold spot 575.50, selling for 604.28, 14.95 shipping, no minimun and takes credit cards (extra 3% in 'shipping fees' if cc used)
CNI (golddealer.com) gold spot 575.90 selling for 602.00, $2000 minimum, free shipping. I noticed there website has identical pricing for the Eagle and the Buffalo.
So, depending on your funds and payment method, here are three great choices for buying. I have bought from all three (though not from Tulving since his minimum was MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH smaller).

wait on buying these by whatever means you can, even if it means hiding in a cave. i predict that they will be available both raw/holdered at approximately $300-$350, though it may take several years.
<< <i>Are the fields really going to have those stippled (for lack of a better term) fields? That's not bad looking. >>
Exactly! I'd say sculptured rather than stippled. As I mentioned in another thread, this is a much more rugged looking design than the Buffalo nickel dollar that had the low relief design elements floating in flat, sterile fields. Fraser wouldn't be as upset about the gold coin. I may have to consider buying one.
That said, the text is bothersome, as it doesn't have the "hand-carved" look that it needs and doesn't complement the design well. IGWT looks like it needs a cartoon speech bubble around it.
I think John Stewart said it best..." a $50 coin for only $800...what a great way to solve our current deficit problem" [sic] " maybe the federal government should start selling all of our money this way"

That would be nice, but I just don't know. When was the last time gold was $300 an ounce? And who's going to sell a coin they paid $800 for at a price less than half that? I think that prediction is overly optimistic.

That would be a good idea except the government doesn't consider gold to be real money.

They're using a metal tool to pick it up? Pffft. Nice.
