So are these new coins going to have the same problems that the earlier buffalo nickels had in regards to the date wearing quickly? It would be such a shame to see the horn and date both worn completely off of these new ones.

I can't imagine they'll touch enough human skin, or rattle around inside enough pockets, to get worn at all....

You can do alot better than that price. So far, I see three known websites listing them...though I have been 'invited' to buy at inflated prices as well, not to mention the flea-bay run-ups (One is over $651 right now)

Exactly! I'd say sculptured rather than stippled. As I mentioned in another thread, this is a much more rugged looking design than the Buffalo nickel dollar that had the low relief design elements floating in flat, sterile fields. Fraser wouldn't be as upset about the gold coin. I may have to consider buying one.

That said, the text is bothersome, as it doesn't have the "hand-carved" look that it needs and doesn't complement the design well. IGWT looks like it needs a cartoon speech bubble around it.

That would be nice, but I just don't know. When was the last time gold was $300 an ounce? And who's going to sell a coin they paid $800 for at a price less than half that? I think that prediction is overly optimistic.
