    it appears the pics are hiding a lot of detail but really showing off
    the luster.

    i can see it as a PQ 35. a nice 40. an overgraded 45 (but still nice to own)
    thinking in pcgs type grades.

    but for some reason, the more i look at it, the more i admire it.

    It is an xf 45, longacre nailed it.

    FC, you hit it dead on. Shots where taken to show luster of coin. And they mushed the details.

    Here are two lousy shots that show more detail, sacrificing luster and true color.

    Thank to all who gave input. I am working on new pics for the coin, just messing with the camera settings.

    XF40, not sure but it looks like it has been cleaned harshly at some point. (parallel hairlines)

    Looks like a VF, although the picture is big, but a little fuzzy. I'd say VF-25 is about right.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
