specific The John W Adams Collection 1794 Large Cents Bowers & Ruddy Galleries 1982

I have that Logan catalog. I like the contenential curency very much. My favorite is Parino's Knoxville Collection.

Yes, I agree that Parts 1 and 2 of the Eliasberg auctions are at the top of my list. To that you should add The United States Gold Coin collection which was sold October 27-29, 1982. That was the U.S. gold coin section of the Eliasberg collection. For whatever reason the heir to that part of the collection did not want the Eliasberg name on the sale, which was a shame. Every serious collector knew the source of the coins, especially since there were some unique or virtually unique coins in the sale, which included the unique 1870-S Three Dollar Gold Piece.

I heard from one of the people who cataloged the sale that the heir demanded that the auction be conducted at a specific time, which provided very little lead time. It had something to do with astrology.

My favorites are Eliasberg US Gold, Norweb, Bass (II-IV), Dallas Bank, Garrett, James Stack Collection, and the 1999 FUN and ANA Heritage Signature Sale collections.

Eliasberg 2 & 3 (B&M 5/96, 4/97) - I'd probably like Eliasberg 1 from '82 if I had it.
Starr (Stack's 10/92) - love the run of proof sets 1858-1916
John W Walter 1796 collection (Stack's 5/99) - pretty durn specific

I find the current Ford catalogs to be quite interesting and fairly general if you take all the specific sub-niches and combine them. They are up to Ford Part 14 right now and I enjoy them immensely. For a much smaller and more focused sale I would choose the Chicago Sale by Superior Galleries on August 11, 1991 that featured the "Larry Shepherd Collection of US Commorative Coinage".
