I purchased a coin on ebay that I wish to return pursuant to the sellers policy. I have emailed the seller four times and tried to call once (got a fax machine.) I have no gripe with the seller, I dont like the coin and want to return it, but I am at an impasse. Any suggestions?

OK...to get back on point... If contacting the seller doesn't get you resolution, you could try contacting ebay directly. I've never used the service, but I believe there is a dispute resolution page you could try. Perhaps someone more ebay saavy could weigh in here...

<< <i>Remember that auctions are not "approval sales". What was wrong with the coin (different from the description)?. Did the seller state that he accepted returns? If so, and you paid with paypal credit card, file a charge-back. Sounds like the seller is ignoring you. >>
Thanks....No the sale states a seven day return policy. The purchase price was $800.00 and the coin is cleaned. I expect to cover all shipping costs. I paid via credit card.

Thanks Leo. Ebay has previously provided me with a customer service number I can call in case of transaction problems.

Note that it is a verb not a noun. You would have to use advise as a gerund. Eye learnt me some grammah fer them college standardized tests last skool yeare,
Personally I think correct grammar sucks; as long as it is clear what is meant, there is no real problem.

If it was through PayPal then file a claim with them first.
If it was direct then send the item back, insured with delivery confirmation, and sent your credit card company a letter (calling is not sufficient) with copies of info indicating that the item was returned.

<< <i>This wouldn't be Harbor Coin or Brian Timmons by any chance? Yes, it does sound like you are being ignored and the seller would prefer not to lose a sale....esp on a hard to get rid of cleaned coin. I think you're out of luck unless you paid via paypal. Once you finally leave negative FB the seller will return the favor and claim that you violated some rule or were late to contact them. And there's no way to prove they are lying.

I sent my last two emails through ebay rather than my isp. I can always reverse my credit card sale...I hate to do such things ....even now I am reluctant to disclose the seller......

The terms are 7 day return and if the cleaning was not disclosed that is also a reasonable basis for return.
Request a refund for the total including shipping if the item was not sold as cleaned in the description.
Perhaps send the email to there fax number as well.
The return policy was in the auction so you shouldn't have to try and get permission, and by waiting and continuing to try you are consuming the return period. The insurance on the return is to protect yourself in case it disappears, and the delivery confirmation is so he can't claim he didn't receive it an to strengthen your case with Paypal in case he does.

GET A LIFE.
You don't know who you are dealing with. The fact that you made contact within the return period is adequate intent to return. The seller must respond. I would never just return something to any dealer regardless of what they claimed up front. If a seller is unwilling to communicate back that is a red flag. Adding fuel to that fire via a return is very risky. Even if you do return the coin, what's to keep the seller from claiming the package was empty. It's get ugly from there.
