After reading a few threads here, I thought I would ask the question if folks still looked through their pocket change? One of my favorite finds was an off center lincoln cent strike. I had looked for one of thiose for years and one day, in the change, I had the off center and a blank.
Thats wht I miss about my current collecting. Now that I focus on proofs, and commems, I sometimes still miss what got me inetersted in the hobby and that was finding the "cool coin" in everyday use.
Anybody else have a similiar story?

That was nice, until I found out it's only about a $.50 coin. Sure beats nothing though!

Finest Toned Ike I've Ever Seen, been looking since 1986
out what I want and I'll put the rest into circulation. Even coins from some nice red BU
wheat rolls that are not worth the cost to grade. If someone pulls it from circulation and
says wow thats great. Joe

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
Coin On!
(not that I plan on doing anything with them, I just like to look at them).

I'd give you the world, just because...
Speak to me of loved ones, favorite places and things, loves lost and gained, tears shed for joy and sorrow, of when I see the sparkle in your eye ...
and the blackness when the dream dies, of lovers, fools, adventurers and kings while I sip my wine and contemplate the Chi.
I check all my change every day. Find wheat cents here and there, 40s and 50s Jeffersons now and then.
Nothing great, but..........experienced a nice find the other day.
I asked for the several Kennedy half dollars in the tellers tray at the local bank and while most were the usual worn early c/n Kennedys, right there in the middle of them all was a 1990 S proof!! GREAT!!
My best find in some time! So good things are still out there, just keep looking.
By the way, you need a new icon. I thought you were Russ.

My best finds so far this year are a few 40% halves, 1937 nickel in F-15, a half a dozen or so war nickels, and one 1964-D dime. Not great, of course, but lookin' is free, and face value is a reasonable price to pay.
The best being a 1907 Indian Head cent I found in February.

Last decent find was a 1927-D cent. Probably VG/F area. Too bad it was bent/warped.
Positive BST: WhiteThunder (x2), Ajaan, onefasttalon, mirabela, Wizard1, cucamongacoin, mccardguy1
Negative BST: NONE!
I do make people wait in line while I gather my rolls and singles from the bank tellers.
However, I was knocked out cold the other day by a huge trucker waiting in line to cash his check and in a hell of a hurry.
Never-the-less, as I scraped myself off the floor and was picking up the roll of cents that had broken, I discovered several wheat cents and even found a good one, a 1950-S.
So good things do come out of bad happenings sometimes!

PS - Found a 1969 Kennedy out of 4 rolls from the bank this year too. Nothing to get a big jolt out of but, something out of the ordinary at least.
