Nevada Quarter design the best

I picked up 5 rolls of the Nevada Quarters at the bank this morning. I really think the Nevada design is the best yet.

  • It certainly is a nice design. I have to admit I will probably end up putting back more since I like this one so well.

It's my favorite too, and 2006 is also my favorite year as a group so far.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • agreed.....the best yet in my opinion. I usually buy two sets of rolls from mint, bought 5 of these.

2007 = only 1/3 of A.I.P. asked to participate on State Quarters. Hmmm...
  • Maine is still better!!

    IMHO,

Nevada is ok, but I don't like the weeds on the right and left borders.... My personal favorite is still the connecticut design, or the kansas quarter with the open fields....

I saw a post saying that Nevada was really nice and went on ebay to see an image. I was unimpressed until I saw one in hand. Definately one of the best designs.

"Nevada is ok, but I don't like the weeds on the right and left borders"

Those "weeds" are the Nevada State Flower (Sagebrush) (I guess they don't have many "flowers" in Nevada.

    Nevada State Flower
    Sagebrush
    Artemisia tridentata

Big sagebrush is an aromatic, woody shrub, freely branched above, from 4-30 dm tall. Young stems are silvery-gray, while the older stems become grayish brown. The oldest stems have bark which is noticeably shredded. The leaves are gray, crowded and narrowly cuneate with 3 rounded teeth or lobes on the blunt tip. They are silvery green above and below and strongly scented. The leaves alternate on the stems, and they may be both deciduous and winter persistent. The flower heads are loosely spread out along the tips of the branches. The flower heads are soley discoid with 3-8 flowers per head. Big sagebrush flowers from late summer into fall.

  • February’s Numismatist magazine had an article about Nevada’s quarter. It also included pictures of four other ideas for the state quarter. If y’all have that magazine, turn to page 41. I like the one on the bottom.

I showed my 3rd and 4th grades the proof version of this years quarter designs. Most of them agreed w/Jim--Nevada was the best of the bunch. Compare this years with 2000 and 2001 designs. You got it Artist!
