What's the multiple you'd pay for a common but monster toned coin??

    A genuine monster? If that's the case I'd have no problem going 5x sheet since genuine monsters easily bring 10x sheet or better.

    Now, if it's the typical toned coin that a lot of people call a monster, I'd pay very little premium if any.

    I was collecting 19th and early 20th century proof type with nice color. I don't know if I owned anything "monster" but I paid strong retail prices for what I liked. When I decided to sell to pursue other things, I did well, even though I sold to a (very reputable) dealer.

    Just to make this thread fair and balanced -- I would not pay a premium.

    If I had the cash....whatever it took to acquire the coin......typically 2X to 10X will get me what I want but on a cheaper coin....sometimes the multiples are more like 20X image

    3 or 4x. Maybe a bit higher if a cheap coin.

    It all depends on the coin and the color. I've bought and sold toned coins for anywhere between 1x-44x bid...

    with all that has been going on "peace wise" I think I have become jaded on the subject of monsters. But if I did come across one I "had to have" I wouldn't go higher than 35% more than a white example would cost.

    and that example if bought would not be for resale, just for my personal collection, and only because I REALLY LIKED ITimage

    I usually can't afford monsters, but 10x for a "wow" coin doesn't sound unreasonable......

    2X-3X maximum if the coin was monster.

    I have paid a $50,000 premium for color.

    Multiples of sheet is irrelevant. I'd pay 1,000 times sheet without hesitation if sheet was low enough.

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Never said I paid that muchimage

    I've bought and sold toned coins for anywhere between 1x-44x bid.

    Multiples of bid is also relative to what the bid is. Many members might pay $20 for an absolute monster of a coin that bids at $2 but those same folks might not want to pay $20,000 for a comparable coin that bids at $2,000 even though they are both 10x bid.

    For a monster commem, I would go between 7 to 10 times sheet. It would have to be in a PCGS slab and graded MS 65 or above.

    Talk about a monster--look at your icon!!

    My icon fits me well--besides I have no clue how to establish an icon on these boards and could care less.
