That can't be right. Otherwise, we're talking about $230+ TRILLION dollars per year.

$635 million would be far more believable.

Of course there is the other reason it wouldn't be a "billion" ... at 35 million notes a day the notes would have to be an average face value of almost 20,000. each. Last time I checked, we aren't printing them that big.

  • Well I just went back to Tivo and the lady stated 635 Billion, I should call the station and make a stint about it huh. Also 35 million notes=daily, how in the world can these guys look at that many notes for errors and pack it away and, and, and, and, somebody stop me, this can't be true, I will get to the bottom of this and update the forum at a later time.

Remember that the majority of United States Dollars circulate outside of the U.S. It is said that at least 80% of the circulating $100 notes are currently in foreign circulation.

Are you sure she was American? In some countries 1,000,000 is identified as one billion instead of one million. I suppose the BI in BIllion refers to two groups of three zeros just as one TRIllion (1,000,000,000) refers to three groups of three zeros.

Well for one thing most of the error checking is actually done by machine, not people. The machines can scan hundreds of sheets or more per minute. All of the counting ad packing is done by machine as well.

I think you have to shift that about three zeros. I'm fairly sure that 1,000,000 is a million in all countries. The difference comes at 1,000,000,000. We call it a billion, and I believe in som other countries it is a Milliard. Then what we call a trillion 1,000,000,000,000 they call a billion.

Just checked, I was right million is a million everywhere and their billion is our trillion.

WHAT. There is no $20,000 bills? Are you sure? I was planning on going to the bank today and asking for a few of them. Are you sure? With the prices of gasoline today, bills of that size may be required.

Sounds like some of us are beginning to believe the news media a little to much.
