Big 1 oz Coin
Funny how I bought an extra one but suddenly I have no desire to sell. I kind of wish I had bought about 10 of them. But even then I doubt I'd want to sell any.
Don't think I'd make a good Coin Dealer.

Are you collecting the series?

I started buying from the US Mint with a 1/2 oz Proof in 1999. I wanted a 1 oz Coin but they were sold out. Starting in 2000 I got both the 1 oz and the 1/2 oz Coins. In 2002 I started getting the 4-coin set, along with a few extra 1/2 and 1 oz Coins.
Sticker shock got the best of me in 2004 so I considered not getting anything from the Mint. I thought maybe eBay would offer Coins much cheaper. Finally, figuring I'd rather get something fresh from the Mint rather than picking something off eBay, I ordered a 1 oz Coin. This was soon followed by the second 1 oz Coin - hoping for a low mintage - expecting to sell for a modest profit. I figured the 1 oz would be the least ordered version since it was the most expensive, although the big 1 oz Coin happens to be my personal favorite.
I guessed wrong about the 1 oz considering that both the 1/2 and 1/4 oz Coins have smaller mintages. The full 1 oz Coin has always had higher mintages than the smaller Coins, but apparently they are just more popular. The prices being realized on eBay seem to back this up.
The prices being paid for the 1/10 oz Coins are absolutely amazing IMHO. Guess they are really popular - I don't care for them since they are so hard to see!
PS - Yes I am trying to collect the series. One day I'll pick up the 1997 - 1999 1 oz Proofs. I'm in no hurry because with their higher mintages, I figure they will always be selling at bullion value.

I collect those because, it is what I can have the 2001 to 2005 so far.....

Here's one currently on eBay that's going at $1200 with 3 days left! Sweet, sweet.
BTW, people seem to want big bucks for those graded PF70, but as far as I can tell, those garner no better bids than the raw ones in original Mint holders.
