I'd go 65RB as well. I was going to say 66 but I think the small spots on the obverse, between feathers 3-4 and 4-5 and under the F of OF, as well as the RB designation keep it at 65.
I love the coin but not the wood grain look as much....I haven't cultured to that part of early toned copper yet.
Either holder this is a strong MS63RB but 64 is pushing it. It has very nice strike detail on the reverse with enough toning to show what appear to be die polish lines..... the obverse seems a bit softer with a weak strike and a little more porosity than normal. Could be my eyes, or my brain... but for sure, it's my opinion.

65RB, I don't understand how some of the responses consider that coin to be brown.

Differences in monitors, probably. I was shocked at the difference of the monitor I bought for my son this Christmas compared to my old Sony Trinitron.

Excellent point. I have several monitors around here of varying age and quality, and the difference in the way each renders images is amazing.
I always get these wrong so lets keep the streak going.
The 1st 3 feathers are actually well struck for an 08-S, and these always get graded on a curve so it looks 65 to me.
I'll jump on the RB bandwagen but I have to say it's always tough to judge how NGC or PCGS interprets woodgrain on S mint small cents. It's also tough to judge how much is brown and how much is poor alloy mix from a photograph. I wouldn't be shocked to see this in a RD NGC slab.

It's really hard to tell how much red there is in these "woodgrained" early S-mint cents with an image on a monitor. You really need to have these in hand to determine how much red is really left.
It's graded MS66RB. In-hand it's actually very close to a full red designation. Large images tend to magnify the wood grain toning and obscure color a bit.
I checked with the US Patent and Trademark office--no such mark is registered. Claiming a false trademark is a Federal offense, punishable by a fine and/or imprisonment.
I don't mind you using the Russview 'TM', but go back to the 1967 Kennedy you used to have pictured on your threads: The Kennedy is a much more magnificent and humble coin to look upon.

Actually, it's only a Federal offense to use the encircled R for Registered trademark. TM can be used for anything, provided it is not a trademark held my someone else.

What are the benefits of federal trademark registration?
1. Constructive notice nationwide of the trademark owner's claim. 2. Evidence of ownership of the trademark. 3. Jurisdiction of federal courts may be invoked. 4. Registration can be used as a basis for obtaining registration in foreign countries. 5. Registration may be filed with U.S. Customs Service to prevent importation of infringing foreign goods.

Assuming it's not a colorful toner - which get graded RB or BN - Red is more valued, usually by a wide margin.

Clearly the surfaces are 65+, but I graded it lower because of the woodgrain toning. Which brings up an interesting question...
Does woodgrain toning on IHC's detract from their grade in the eyes of the TPGs?
