New PCGS Grading Tier - $500 per coin

nencoinnencoin Posts: 1,319 ✭✭✭✭
I briefly glanced to see if someone already posted something about this, and didn't immediately notice anything. There is a new tier that costs $500 with a 5 day turnaround. This is for coins valued over $500,000. $500 with a 5 day turnaround.......wonder if blackout dates apply?

Since when? You can do a show or walkthrough with no value limit for $100.

Starting February 2006. The show/no value limit tier is only for coin shows. No other walkthrough option, except in-house, which has a max value of $200,000.

At $500, a bodybag would REALLY hurt.

I doubt PCGS would bodybag any >$500,000 coins, damaged or not.

Maybe they're angry that Laura keeps on sending in her 1913 Nickel for regrades.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud at that - good one. I think Charlie Ward (or possibly Chris Weinke) was the last player to play for the Noles who didn't have a criminal record.

Seems pretty steep for a five-day turnaround. For that price, you should get turnaround in one day plus overnight return shipping.

Is there a five coin mimimum for the $500 rate?image

    Don't bank on it. image

Who says the coin is worth $500,000 or more? PCGS or the owner? I can think of some coins that could be enhanced by a $500 slab that would otherwise get a BB.

ive always been a proponent of this tier...its the no bs tier

heres what you save when they dont play games with the 100 dollars line

    1) postage....

    2) insurance

    3) damage...slabers have been there done that

    4) giving up on a coin....many a coin is let go by people not fully knowing " the game "....only to let someone sharper buy your coin ( that is truely undergraded which happens way to often in " the game " )...only to let them make all the money....it is darwinsim you know

    5) time....lots of waisted time playing the game

this tier will also allow you to get your coins into the right holders faster rather than let them go across the street where as they seem to put the right grade on it more often

at the fun show i asked a well know dealer ...geez you dont have much inventory...whats up...he answered they are all at home with the wrong grades on them

if he/she used the 500 no bs line he would of surely had more coins in his/her case....and i would of had a better buying show

my goal is to find the monsters and i go where they are but i sometimes miss some.... so if you have any and want to sell IM THE BUYER FOR THEM!!!

I have one coin worth an order of magnitude less than that amount
and would happily pay $500 for a no bs grade the first time around.

I don't see this tier listed. Is this a prank post??

If I had the wherewithall to own $500k coins, a $500 grading fee would be chicken feed.

    great company wall street move

if a tpg had the ability to grade 3000 coins on site at a show thus 300,000 gross sales.....and a smart wall streeter said hey if i get one of the heavies to submit 3000 coins then everyone else would be shut out!!

so i will gear up for 4000 coins have have the last 1000 bring in another 200,000 in income.........a whooping 66% increase in sales by the creation of another tier

then the stock will go up..options will be exercised and key players make a ton!!!

only works with gradeflation as that is the key to submissions...and proof postive once again to some who might not understand that if so facto

thus to know where your coins sit in relation to the rest of their population is paramount
