After all the milk spotting problems...who's going to continue slabbing and collecting SAE's in '06
I'm not. I'm through. After 40% of my 1986-2005 PCGS MS69 set developed milk spots, in the slabs, I've had it. To me, it's throwing money down the drain.
Starting that set was a newbie mistake but I've learned my lesson.

<< <i>I wish there was some way to determine if there was a common denominator to the SAE's that developed the milky spots. >>
I never really wanted to slab them. ( But I have been slabbing PRDCAM commems)
No Milk spots on the proofs, some toning on the MS.
I have been giving the PRs as Gifts for new borns of friends and family.

<< <i>Were your coins dipped in Acetone to stabilize them before slabbing? If so, did they still develop milk spots? >>
I don't know, I bought them yearly from a local dealer.
I also have a complete set of Proofs in OGP and all are Perfect condition with no spots or traces of any thing developing.
My brother has a set where the 92 and the 94 developed Milk spots.

I have a completed set of NGC PF 70 ASE except 95W and 1993 in 69.
And two complete sets of NGC MS 69.
And about 10 different year mint rolls. Just purchased a 2006 ASE Roll this Tuesday.

Both PCGS and NGC have major issues. I have returned numerous amounts to PCGS for refund or spot removal. It is just not worth the trouble. On the other hand, If they don't develop spots in the first year in the slab then they probably won't develop later. Also has anyone seen spotting on the first strike proofs? I have seen about 100 so far and so far there is no signs of spotting unlike the 2004's where 100% developed spots includingthe PR70's.
I breifly discussed this with David Hall in an e-mail and so far there is little understanding and it is an ongoing investigation as it is costing PCGS $$$ in replacement costs.

most all of the time the milk spotting is caused by dipping before submitting

I had a different experience. Some of mine developed spots long after being slabbed. Like my '91 & '95 nearly 10 years later.
Is there any reference to the spots in the description.? I didn't see one.

No. I posted one pic. The DLRC inventory shows x3 70's, each with minor spotting evident in the pics.
