The coin auction ended 12/12... did anyone have any success?

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

BTW, Does anyone know if they sell unsold lots for a discount at the end of the auction? I didn't see anything about it in the catalog. S

Fifteen, eh? Good luck. I only bid on one lot.

As for your question I have no clue.

Don't worry, I doubt we were even on the same page...undoubtedly some very rare WWI medals though.

Well, I was successful on eight of them...could have been worse, certainly could have been better.

How did you find out? I can not see anything on there website for the current auction as far as prices realized.

If you are registered as a member and you bid via their website you log in and click on latest sales prices...it should list everything you bid on and won. You'll have to wait a bit longer if you lost and need the price realized. They claim they'll have those up at 4:30 your time. S

I couldn't get the website to let me bid so I sent my bids by email. I don't know if they ever got them or not.

I tried to bid from their website but could not. So Peter Preston-Morley bid for me. I guess I'll have to wait awhile to see what it ended at.

Yeah, their web site certainly isn't as user friendly as they spout it off to be...

Evidently there is still a great interest in Britain for WWI material...especially the more macabre stuff that I was interested in...Eberbach, Gies, Zadikow, etc.. I was able to snag one Gies piece that is one of only two available for private collections. I am happy about that but sure bit the big one on most of the others. Perhaps I should have stuck entirely with Goetz as I won all the ones I bid on...but in all honesty, they don't garner as near the same impact that the other above mentioned artist's pieces do...

This getting really stupid. There website only shows the Dec 12th auction and it list up to lot 2000 and lot 2000 was part of todat's auction. Dammit I bid on lot 2135 and there is no info at all.

I only lost one to one bid increment...all the others I got smoked on, almost hammering at double my bid. It is a lesson learned as I have now seen what is collectible to the Germans and the Brits...

That's a nice design of British facades Bill, I never saw anything like it on a coin or Conder before. I hope you'll soon locate another, as cacheman says, every loss at auctions is a lesson learned. image

I cosidered bidding on that one, thought it would go well with my Lady Godivas. For those that don't know the significance of this piece, notice the person in the upstairs window (at about 10:30). That was "Peeping Tom" who disobeyed the order not to look out as Godiva passed, and was struck blind. Note the inscription at the bottom Memorias Godivae 1057

Well IF they executed by bids, I've won three lots

Lot 2068 Rutland 1 The only token from this county with a mintage of 200. This makes two that I'll own, this is a big upgrade.

    imageimage

Lot 2108 a group of five Middlesex Skidmore Churches and Gates pieces in AU, four of which I do not have. (no picture)

Lot 2142 Warwickshire 38a A super piece incredibly detailed. These are very impressive when you see the in person. mintage is again about 200 pieces. (This will be my second one of these as well.)
