WOW! Baltimore Picture from the bourse and it is BUSY!

The bourse is jumping at Baltimore. Very busy and sales are strong, very strong. My partner just sent this picture of dealer day activity. This is a must do show if you can when it opens to the public tomorrow. Please stop by and say hello to Brian.

The Philly region seems to be bracing for a snowstorm. I would imagine it's the same for Baltimore.

Might be a very light show.

Do the Dealers at Baltimore take Credit Cards? I've never been to a big Coin Show so I have no idea of how they operate.

I'm broke because of my lay-off but I do have some good plastic. A lightly attended snow show might be my chance to just "look" at all the Coins. Of course if that buy impulse should take over I'd like to know my plastic is good enough for their plastic.

I would say 90% of the dealers do not take credit cards at shows.

credit cards are rarely taken, most dealers will point you towards the ATM machine.....cash is best, many dealers will take check if they know you are if you can give a reference or two from other dealers that you have done business with....add to this that checks for small amounts are really not that welcome $10 items...hope this info helps...

Thanks for the info. If my refund check from my returned 1908 Saint would arrive tomorrow, I'd have some cash. But the way it looks, that check is probably going to be stuck at "in the mail" status for a long time. Lucky for me, I have free Legal Representation, as a benefit of my employment - and I'm itching to use it.

With my cash situation and the likelihood of snow, guess I'm going to have to put off Baltimore once again.

Thursday's "superbourse" in Baltimore was adequate in activity with wholesale being moderately strong. Selling coins was a breeze although finding the right coins to buy was a challenge.

Most dealers at Baltimore do not take credit cards. Most dealers will take checks with the proper references.

I had the opportunity to view the new ANACS holders earlier today. I liked what I saw.

I will echo comments about the show. There was a nice amount of activity today.

I also viewed the ANACS holder and must say I'm impressed as well.

Out of courtesy for ANACS, I'd prefer to let them make it public when they're ready. However, I did see James Taylor showing the slab to several others. If you're going to be at the show, stop by and ask to see it.

Speaking of ANACS, I heard from a fellow collector , that they no longer do the free pre-view or pre- grading of your coins. At least they did not last week when He was at their place in Dublin, OH. This is another change since James Taylor moved in.

I think that is a good thing. I'd be waiting in line with 2 or 3 coins (one time just 1 coin) an there would be 6 or 7 in front of me that had freakin' box full of coins. If they bring it back, they should put a small limit on the number of coins that they will look at for free.

The rumor debunked...James still has the table set up at Baltimore and Tim Hargas is giving verbal grading opinonions. He helped me out yesterday on a low grade 16 quarter. It is certainly a way to be one of the tops in grading as far as customer service is concerned and this has always been one of JT's strong suites.

We also take CC's (the coins and the cards) at the show and if you use your credit card on bullion we will need to ad 3% for the processing fee. The show was hopping yesteday an it was similar to the Baltimore ANA of a few years back. Very brisk and busy! Love it! Ed Kuzmar does a bang up job.

Stop by table 256/257 and see us. Nick Ciancio will also be there. Saw several Board members on the floor and everyone was having a great time.

They did at Long Beach. They did at San Francisco. I bet he is wrong. And if they didn't at one small show there must be a reason because it definately is not because James came on board.

The show sounds great! Too darn bad the snow fell here in Philly when it did; kind of took the wind out of my sails.

I'm sure there will still be some nice coins in the spring.

The incident quoted above was at their main facility in Dublin, Ohio. I hope that it was a one time thing, as I like to use it on circulated coins which I can't determine are cleaned or not. My original statement was not meant, in any way, as a slam towards Mr. Taylor. I think he is going to put ANACS in even higher regard with we fellow collectors.

The people who have previewed the new holders were asked by ANACS management to keep the details on the down-low until the public premiere. Sorry.

ANACS was giving free verbal opinions at Baltimore, at least they were on Friday.

you are exactly right.

ANACS (at the shows) needs to grow a set and tell some of these inconsiderate people that come up to their table with boxes to go pound sand. They should have something like a 5 coin limit, PERIOD.

I have a few coins for them to look at tomorrow and some lowly monitor tokens to submit to NGC for something cool I dreamed up.

I think there is nothing wrong with getting the verbal if it is highly likely that the coin is going to be submitted... even if it is 20-30 coins. They are there to get submissions.

the only thing wrong with a really, really busy bourse on "Dealer Day" is that it will inevitably lead to a more expensive bourse on "Collector Day" when the public shows up. just remember, that coin you're buying needs to be sold 3-4 times by dealers before you have an oppurtunity to buy it and be "the first one to see it", a sad reality of a burgeoning market.

I was at the show today and got a few opinions from ANACS. While in line, I heard a guy ask James if ANACS was running any promotional, sale, or show special offers. James told him no, and suggested to the guy that he look around and see how busy they are, that there is no need for special promotions.
