Do you guys get a kick out of seeing coins you've owned show up with major auctions houses?

I do!
This PCGS PR68CAM Accented Hair on Heritage is one I made and sold.
It brought $800 on eBay on 3.19.05. It'll be interesting to see what it realizes through Heritage.

I wouldn't say I got a kick out of it. But, it did get my attention.
Your eBay pictures and Heritage's lame attempts at photography just don't compare. Can't they fix that photo?

I've eMailed them twice about their cameo and deep cameo images noting that a big part of value for these coins is degree of contrast, and that their images show none. No response either time.

It is so GRATIFYING! I'm so glad. Tra la, tra lee. Make happy! God bless! Joy to the world.
<< <i>I would say the owner of that coin would have done better consigning to you!!! >>
Not necessarily. Heritage has HUGE traffic to their auctions and the coin is Registry quality. Plenty of bidders will go after the label and ignore the image. In this case, though, along with the label they'll get a damned nice coin.

<< <i>Auction houses tend to steer clear of well-ventilated holey coins and cheap Darkside stuff. >>
Then again, some of my well-ventilated, holey Draped Bust halves turn out to be new Overton variety discovery coins after I sell them.
I agree. Heritage images of that coin suck. I have sent a couple of coins to Russ to photograph and was very pleased.
Maybe you could sell them your images for a small fee.

<< <i>Amazing the differences of the ending auction prices at Heritage between the NGC & PCGS cameos on that coin. $200 vs. $700+. >>
That's pretty much the normal spread.

I hope you make out ok .Super looking coin.

them for. In fact, I'd be willing to do that all day long!

It's also fun seeing them show up with new pedigrees as well.
When I sell my coins, I am hoping the new owners do not sell them until after I am gone!
If I see a sale of one of my former coins, then I assume the new owner was not as happy with the coin as I was.

So now you are making AHs?? You da' King, to be sure.
Maybe Heritage should atribute the coin "Russ Fecit", like a Gobrecht Dollar!

I've lost count, but I think Russ has made around 6 or 7 of the PCGS 68Cam accented hairs; two were recent, and one of those is on ebay right now. Rumor has it he will attempt to make the first PCGS 69 Cameo accented hair in 2006.

BTW, I also had an NGC PR68CAM listed. It brought $206.

I recently sold a top pop coin, and low and behold it was a featured coin at an auction house. The guy who bought it gave me the song and dance about how happy he was to finally get it, etc., wanted super fast shipment, etc., but I think he was really a dealer and simply had to make the consignment cutoff

<< <i>Well, the PCGS PR68CAM that I had listed on eBay just hammered down at $898. Who will win the realized price race, Heritage or Russ? >>
Maybe you oughtta buy it back offa Heritage and sell it again on eBay. Then invite the bigwigs at Heritage in for a lesson on how to use real pix to sell coins. Its amazing that they smoetimes get the prices that they do.

<< <i>.....No fun at all to see a coin once owned in a new holder 1 GRADE HIGHER !! >>
That happened to me once - sort of. I bought raw, submitted and sold an 1882-O Morgan toner that PCGS graded MS65. It eventually ended up in the hands of a dealer who submitted it to NGC where it graded MS66*. Now, there's a gigantic spread between these grades for the 1882-O, so at first blush it looks like I left a ton of money on the table.
But, this dealer then cracked it out of the NGC holder and re-submitted it to PCGS where it graded - - - - - - - MS64!
That's why I said sort of.
