    yes, and I'm going to do it again. There is some guy in California that always bids up the sticker dollars I want to rip..eeerr, I mean bid on.

    Yep, and would do it again.
    I will honor the bid if I do it, and I will enjoy taking a coin away from someone that has torqued me off.

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Hell yeah, There's this one guy that I will outbid just for grins even though I don't need it.......then just flip it. Of course this is if the price is within reason for the coin...........Rick

    Yep. Sure.

    A couple years ago there was a guy who was just tracking my bidding on certain items. I was doing the legwork and he was swooping in. He never bid any on anything else for over 6 weeks, he only sniped me. I turned the tables and pushed him into bidding too high a few times in a row and then on one particular coin I knew, based on his history, that he was after, I made sure he didn't get it. I then sent him a nice friendly message.

    Yeah, I paid a little too much, but it was worth the price of admission.

    No, and the thought has never even crossed my mind. I bid on coins I want and if someone doesn't like me and outbids me for that reason.... how would I even know ?...ESPECIALLY on EBAY image.... what purpose could this possibly serve ? ( insert ball scratching icon here)

    I would hope the reason I am outbid on an auction is because someone wants the item a little more than me, NOT because they hate me or dislike me .... the very thought of that sounds idiotic on the part of anyone who would do that. Looks like I am a minority on this one people, but I cannot for the life of me believe anyone would base a bid on their DISLIKE of someone else.

    No. In fact, most of the bidders who I recognize and bid on the same stuff I do...well, I like those people.

    I bid what I will pay and thats it for the most part. Every once in a while a second bid will be made.

    The late Pete Bishal used to always bid in amounts ending with $.78, usually $18.78 or $28.78. A couple of times I bid $18.77 on a coin just to tweak him and max out his bid, though it was more in good fun than spite.

    Yes. Definitely.

    About 1-2 years ago 2 or 3 other gold buyers on ebay were taking me out nearly every time on Saints no matter what I bid. It got to the point that now whenever I see them bidding, and I'm ok with the coin being auctioned, I bump the coin as high as I can so as to minimize whatever profit they hope to make. These same guys then try to sell the same coins themselves on ebay a few months later.

    One time 2 years ago I guy named Bollinger and I bid each other over the head on an old holder MS65 Saint that looked MS66-67.
    No one else was in over $1100. My and Bo beat each other up to $1500. From that point on I wanted to be out but I HAD to know how high he was willing to go. The coin really did look to be a 66. I ran him to $1800 and then let him have the coin. He later said he felt it was a 67 shot. But I never heard from him again and have no idea how he made out.

    as the question is asked, no. not JUST to outbid someone.

    but there is this one guy who has out bid many a capped bust, large sized quarter away from me

    and when he's in the auction, sometimes I'll throw an extra bid in, knowing I'm "safe"

    (I have to want the coin at that price though I may not expect to get it)

    Okay, I surrender !.... I understand why some of you would jack a bid up , now. Especially in the case of being beat continuously in your quest for Gold pieces or certain numismatic items. We call that SHILL bidding and it goes on all the time. However, I still stand by my original post.

    I bid what I want and as HIGH as I am willing to go.

    Just FYI.... Larry(DaBigKahuna) has some really nice Sacagaweas up for auction on ebay. He is a forum member and I have bought from him, previously. All my submissions to PCGS have graded out 66 and 67 in the Sacagawea series and he has a few 68's for sell (yummy.. I can taste victory in my mind). All of you who dislike me, please go bid image.... now that makes perfect sense to me if you don't like me. ( where is the ball scratching icon ?) image
