One really fine SAINT!

I am really thrilled to have this coin. This MS65 came out of a prominent collection that exceeds Morse's. The collector bought the only 913-S MS66...and this came to me. The 1913-S is the worst looking of any date in the series....most MS64's are totally baggy. (I had a MS65, but this was significantly better!)

    Very Nice, saintguru.

    Even though it is very cheap by comparison, I love my MS-65 1908 NM. I can certainly see how one can become obsessed with these!! image

    Here's a very typical MS64! Yechhhhh! This date was sent en masse to Central America 80 years ago and the bags were tossed around a lot. The coin I have now is clearly not a part of the CA hoarde.

    If that's a 64 and if the one '33 was called a 65...............the first one posted is certainly worthy of being a 66+

    There is ONE MS66 and it was absolutely perfect! That's why he bought it! The 64's are just so junky. When I was looking for one, it took 6 before I found one that I thought was OK.

    image That coin is impressive. image A MS 65 saint is certainly on my want list, and that sure looks like a keeper. Nice photo too!

    What's up with the lighter area on the reverse through the bottoms of UNIT and the top of TW? Is that a mark on the holder?

    The lightness is on the holder..however the marks you see there are "as made". Many Saints had some weakness on UNITED...it was usually caused from die buckling. The 1924-D/S, 1925-D/S are notoriously for that.

    Since there is an interest in high grades here's a 1928 MS67 that could be a 68 if they ever grade another one...I doubt they will.

    Too bad it's very common. If the 13-S looked like that it would be a $500K coin!

    Cute 13-s for sure. What keeps that from 65? The slight off color on the eagle's breast or some light field marks that you can barely see? Or a shade more luster needed....Or something else?

    The 1928 with that copper center is killer. It's cleaner than anything else I've ever held in my hand. Definitely a PQ piece for the grade with knock your SOx appeal.

    Nice surfaces on the 13-S, but some hick sold me a 24 that looks nicer? Is it worth as much?

    Or might you consider a trade?

    Dale....do not do business with hicks. I once sold a gorgeous 1924 MS66 to a sociopath mountain man, but he was an exception because he had references.
