Nice one! Can we see the auction?
  • It wasnt from an auction I got it from a local dealer who aparently thinks that toning lowers the value because he had a red '56 for $1.75.

  • Beautiful mint set-type toner. Sounds like you've found a good source.

I have to disagree with you. This type of toning comes from an original mint set. I am pretty sure it is original.

Great coin, Greg, and the price sure is right!!!

  • Nice color! The price differential between the red coin and this one may have something to do with the hits on Lincoln's right arm and the front of his lapel. If the other coin is in similar condition and only the color really sets them apart I highly recommend that you clean this dealer out of inexpensive toned material.

Nice color. Here are a few new ones of mine.imageimage
Great coins are not cheap, and cheap coins are not great!
  • Looks like one heck of a deal for 50 cents! I'd been hanging out at that coin shop more often!

I keep waiting for the day that I find toned coins interesting. For some reason, toned coins just don't do it for me. In fact, I have a toned 2002 MS68RD Lincoln Cent in my set and it really bugs me. If I could find someone with a clean 68RD, I would gladly swap with them!

It's crazy to me how toned coins are bidding at outrageous prices these days!!!

Its all about eye appeal. I'm not saying that white or red coins dont have eye appeal, but many toned coins have A LOT of eye appeal.image

Eventually. Probably not for many years along with some other coins I want to submit. I just dont have the money to spend an extra $20 per coin to get it certified.
