I don't think our opinions regarding the coin's proper color designation should necessarily reflect upon the skills of the photographer.
The coin looks like a "BN" which misses "RB" by a little bit. However, for all we know, it might have looked like that at the time it was graded and still received a "RB" designation out of generosity. Or, it might have displayed more "RD" color when it was certified, but since mellowed.
yeah, I just chose the darker pic because it appears lighter on my screen, and not TOO light. Later today I'll repost the pic which was taken with a longer exposure setting!!
Just working on my photo skills and need opinions!
Your sig line proves your photo skills but trying to photo this borderline RB 2-Cent piece under plastic proves you're a very brave forum poster. Good luck
I see alot of red around the banner down the side of the obverse. Also red around UNITED on the reverse. If what I'm seeing is truely red coin and not a product of the actual image then I'd be inclined to call this a RB coin. I think PCGS and NGC would most likely call it BN though.

While there is definately some Red left on the coin, personally i think it would slab BN atm, as the grading services can see the coin surfaces are unstable and toning at the moment. A grading service that guarentees the color of copper coin wouldn't risk a RB call on this one as it will most likely still keep turning in the holder after certified.
First, nice pictures and it is an attractive coin.
I tend to think this is a tough call but I think it misses RB, HOWEVER, the third picture makes the call even closer... its a keeper and that is what matters most.

btw it is a PCGS RB, but because the slab doesn't allow for direct lighting I reall y can't get the reds in full bloom. It actually is about 55% red on the obverse!
