Both from Rick - Had to treat him to Thanksgiving dinner 1st (He came to the MSNS show). They are as nice as I've seen, and beingn the former owner of a #1 Proof Indian Registery set, I have somethng to compare them to

You NEVER get over gorgeous Proof Indian Cents - They are two of the nicest that I've ever owned - the 1903 is a Cameo too - very rare as such (not labeled as such as they are in PCGS Old Green Holders)

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

    hey Ron

nice to see you again at the show. i thought it was great to have the assemblage of members that were together to give different insights about their respective niches in the hobby. i saw quite a few IHC proofs in dealer cases around the floor and after hearing what Rick had to say about RD vs. RB and the problems that might develop over time, i think it's important to note just when a particular coin might have been holdered. anything you can add to that or any horror stories you're aware of where coins have turned??

that 1899 looks like an absolute monster!!!

The images are courtesy of Rick Snow. As Rick mentioned they are in Old Green Holders and not likely to change. Completely original, never messed with.

Big Moose - before I ever started collected toned coins, I ALWAYS bought nice Proof Indian Cents - some even untoned! (ie Red) image As I recall, you ended up with one (several?) of the nicer ones from my Registry set.

Andrew, the 1878 is indeed very nice but as it's in an old NGC coin, it's virtually impossible to photograph - the white holder makes the coin look dark brown. The 78 is a "Moose" cameo - you can see the cameo contrast from more than 6 feet away, and the coin is very Red. I'll have several of these coin with me in Baltimore.

Ron, I think you should sell me all of your Indian Cent Proofs and bag toned Morgans and start on a great Registry Set of moderns.

Will see you in Baltimore. image

  • That's some good stuffimage

  • << <i>When did PCGS start the Cameo designation?? >>

PCGS started designating Cameos about 5+ years ago. When I had my PCGS Registry set, about 30% of my Proof IHCs were cameo or deep cameo - I think I had the 1st 2 bronze deep cameos ever certified by PCGS - High grade Proof IHCs are some of the prettiest coins that can be collected - and you don't have to break the bank putting together a really nice set - Actually I like the toned ones even better than the Reds, here's one of my very favorites! Even though the holder says BN, it's really Green - maybe I should hang it between the two Proof Reds on my Christmas tree!
