After seeing board member extraordinaire, RYK, get hosed trying to cross a really nice gold coin, I lost all interest in even thinking about crossing coins. I now focus on the coin itself and don't worry about the plastic or the grade on it.

I've gotten to the point where if i even consider buying an NGC coin i automatically deduct 1 point from the assigned grade if i am considering a cross over.
The only coins i deviate slightly from this on are varietys. Those i wouldn't probably be attempting a cross over on anyway.

<< <i>Is it even an issue for you? >>
It is has not been an issue for me to date. If and when I decide to sell some of my collection, it may be a concern.
