Should I sell something?

Now that I am essentially done, should I sell one of my 20th Century gold sets or wait until gold goes through the roof? If I were to sell ONE set, which one and why?

Unless you're bored with your current set, why not simply start a new set (different issue)?

Buyer and seller of vintage coin boards!

Absolutely. Take it from me, there can be alot of regrets down the road from selling a set. Especially if you hand picked the coins. You can't replace that work.
Everything I write is my opinion.

    Looking for alot of crap.
  • I personally believe in the Christmas spirit. You should give a set to me to free up some registry space for the new and improved gold coins.

    JP-

Seems like everyone lately is assembling and breaking up sets at a record pace. I vote w/Shamika - go for the buy and hold - be different!

Since the intrinsic value of gold in your set represents such a small percentage of the set's value, how much do you think your set would appreciate per $100 jump in spot gold?

    Fatman,

THAT is the question. While I feel that a surge in gold is GREAT for rare coins, that is the difficult question. As a trader, I believe that gold futures will surge to record levels faster than we think.....

I would NEVER breakup my sets, NEVER!

  • We are all different. If I had those two sets I would keep 4 of the Eagles and sell the rest. You had the #1 set in 2004 and 2005.

I would keep the Saints for another year so I could get my #1 Registry set certificate for that collection. I would use some of the proceeds from the Eagles to look for a 1927-D to complete the Saints even if that coin was a lower grade than the rest.

Then after getting the #1 Certificate for the Saints I would sell all but 3 of them.

The 4 Indians I would keep are the wire and rolled edge coins as well as my favorite highest grade motto and no motto coins. The 3 Saints I would keep are the high relief and my favorite highest grade motto and no motto coins. I would keep these 7 coins as the start to my complete type set.

The proceeds of the sales could get a top notch type set off to a good start. They could also buy bullion or gold mining stocks if an investment in the metal was desired.

Well most people know I am a gold bull.....I predicted over $500 before year end and expect this rally to take us to $520 before it stalls.....

Ultimate goal is well into the four digits and a lot sooner than everyone thinks......Too many signals in worldwide economics to change my mind.....

I am heavily long gold in futures and just went short the dollar index as I expect the dollar to start a decline AGAIN after the next Fed interest rate increase.....

The G7 countries are really powerless to stop the rise of gold this time.....

I need a no motto $10.00 indian. Do you have one in MS-61 or lower? I need it in a PCGS slab for my type set and I really would like it above FR-02, but AG-03 (or better) would be just dandy.

Sorry. No extra $10 Indians at this time.....

Let me now when yours is on the market.image

Gold to a thousand an ounce?? I would be totally shocked. I am bullish on stocks for the next 3 months, (only), AND the dollar vs. yen/euro. We'll see...
